Are you glad we didn't get P. Lynch?

After Romo is done we just pick a new QB in that years draft ....... i assure you when Romo is done we will have a high draft pick if not the number one.

I think this is exactly right. The NFL has become a "win now" league. The QB who sits and learns for a couple seasons is becoming more and more rare. The Cowboys will either pick up a veteran QB as primary backup (knowing that, if Romo goes down, the season is sunk anyway) or will stick with Moore. They may take a flyer on a QB in later rounds or experiment with a free agent. But the true path to a top draft pick QB is to have a really lousy year. Which is what will happen post-Romo.

I don't know , who has Elway drafted? Tim Tebow? they signed Manning but can't give credit there. Same with Kubiak when in Houston who did they have who did anything?

You're totally missing the point. Why does this organization refuse to draft and develop QBs? Sorry, the Stephen McGees and Dustin Vaughns of the world do not count.

For teams who do not look to the future, GB did, so has NE by using high picks to get a QB so they do not have to scramble for a QB later. Dallas made the mistake it took 5 years before they got a decent QB in Romo who did develop into a top QB.

I feel like we dodged a bullet there.

We were offering our 2nd & 3rd round pick for that guy. We desperately need defenders and since we didn't get Wentz or Goff i'd rather just sell out on winning now.

Thank you Denver!

Completely agree. But really you have to thanks Osweiler.

Not missing that point I would have loved to have gotten Lynch, I want to see Dallas prepare for a life after Romo, not wait until he game starts to fade or he retires. All I meant was based on Track record I don't see where Elway and Kubiak have been greatly successful getting QB's or even developing QB

I understand the thinking. But what GB did with Rodgers, they did 10 years ago -- and it's a different NFL now. And what NE did, they did as a 2nd round pick, not a 1st rounder. And Garapolo is still a question mark. My view is that the Cowboys have other more urgent needs, and the QB of the future can be found in the future. A Romo/Witten/Bryant/primo O-line SB run needs to happen sooner rather than later.

I saw Randy Moss (the reporter not the former player) say this morning on NFLN that according to Jerry if he would have known what the Broncos offered he would have beat that offer.

We came very close to Lynch as our future QB.

Cook has issues, but all of these QB prospects do. Imo, it's okay to swing and miss on a QB prospect, but to not even attempt to legitimately address the position, giving Romo's age, injury history, lack of a true backup QB, is such a failure, and makes no sense what so ever.

Yep. It's a different league. The new smart way is to ignore it until you have nothing. Fill far lesser needs. Then when you have no QB, start looking.

If only we could do what the Packers did but alas, the times they are a changing.

I'm with you on all that but like I said... The time to do that was a month ago.

If we were willing to give up our 2nd and 3rd for Lynch then we could've put together a deal to move up 2 spots for not much more than that if anything.

Since we screwed that up i'd rather just help out this years team. Again.. I'm not a Lynch fan either so there is that. If you like Lynch and his non prostyle system he played in with his 18 on the wonderlic then that is fine. Just not my cup of tea.

BTW, this is bad draft manuevering by the Seahawks. You play teams off each other. If they could have gotten more from the Cowboys they should have.

Maybe they just ran out of clock. That shortened clock to appease the window lickers who whined like babies about the draft being too long.

You're going to see more and more QB prospects like Goff, Lynch, etc., QBs coming from a spread offense, to a NFL, pro style offense. Your coaching and scouting staff have to be able to project on these QBs. ability to make that transition.

Yes for the package which was offered. Would not have minded one bit for less compensation.
