Are you ok with our offense not being in the top 3, or putting up 40pts?

At the end of the day, what does it ultimately matter if the offense isn't putting up 40 points when the QB is gifting points to the opposing defense?
This is the point. McCarthy would be happy with 40 points a game if turnovers could also be kept in check. That didn’t happen last year.

I want playoff wins. If they score 3 points but win thats great. They are going to need to score 20+ points vs good defenses through air or ground doesnt matter.

Mike said it great at the press conference, it's not about being the top in the league or scoring lots of points. Save that for the fantasy people. He wants to be at the top when it costs, with wins and post season success!! All aboard on the Mike train! This was so refreshing to hear.

In a league that's turned heavenly into getting stats, let's focus on what everyone's goal should be, winning the big game!! Please share your thoughts
Its a dumb comment to be honest. Running Zeke more will definitely make you score less points. But its not going to translate into more wins or rest your defense. Probably the opposite affect on both counts.

We don't need to run more we need to run it better. One reason for more picks this year was because our poor Zeke run game put us in too many 3rd and long situations. Our poor run game also allowed teams to play the pass more and not worry about the run. Again, making it more difficult to throw the ball. Other reasons certainly, but this is the issue relating to MM's comments.

Then you can also go back and analyze MM's best seasons with Rogers and he definitely didnt run more.

LOL................Just another perfect example of your agenda and how worthless your opinions are.

Even if Dak was putting up 40 points a game and we lost you would somehow find a way to blame Dak.

They must have ran you off your Philly board long ago eh? Too smart for your antics over there?

I'm fine with it.

But don't for a second let the ones that hated going 4-1 with Cooper Rush tell you they're fine with.

You know who they are.
Those games are what got McCarthy to this point. I have little question he interjected a little there. He went through the same thing with the likes of Matt Flynn before. And we of course as Cowboys fans better remember that:

I just want a superbowl

i dont care if we go 8-9 average 19 points a game and sneak in as the worst 7 seed ever

if it gets us a SB im fine with it more than fine
2022 Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
•Regular season - averaged 18.411 pts per game (313 pts in 17 games).
•8-9 record, good for 1st place in NFC South = 4th seed in playoffs
•Hosted wilcard game...outscored 24-0 through first 3 quarters by the Cowboys ( TB scored a touchdown as the clock went 00:00 to end the 3rd qtr).

Previous losing-record teams in the playoffs:

2020 Washington Football Team___7-9, 1st place NFC East
---lost home wildcard game to Bucs
2014 Carolina Panthers___7-8-1, 1st place NFC South
---won home wildcard v. Cardinals; lost divisional round game @ Seahawks
2010 Seattle Seahawks___7-9, 1st place NFC West
---won home wilcard v. Saints; lost divisional round game @ Bears

Your stated scenario on winning the Super Bowl has a very slim chance of succeeding.

The offense was fine until they played Niners. Yes they need another WR weapon and I would draft a back too. If Robinson is still there at 26. Get him.

Rule of thiumb.....regardless of how the Cowboys lose or amount of points they score, I am extremely not okay......for several days, in fact.

I can't think of a single scenario where the Cowboys win and I am less okay than losing.

The delta between our best and our worst was too large. I would have gladly given up a few points from the offense’s ceiling if it meant a few point more as a floor.

It might sound obtuse but some of it was the opposite of Garrett’s problem. We looked too hard for a mismatch and didn’t focus enough on just having our guys beat theirs.

What I mean is we focused all a lot of time on mismatches and when we got it, we played hurry up exploiting it in various different ways. That’s why IMO it felt like once we got moving we were fine. We scored a lot of points, but it’s not conducive of grinding out a result and you still need those bail out plays that work no matter what.

We need to find a better balance to be successful, find that ability to change gears. Sure, exploit the mismatches, but spend time on game situations where you need to slow it down and lock in the result. I think that’s what Mike McCarthy meant.

If what Mike is advocating for is:

1. Run the ball effectively
2. Control the TOP
3. Limit turnovers
4. Play great D and force turnovers

Then, yes— that recipe is, and has always been, a championship formula. Theorizing about it and executing it are two VERY different things though lol

I would offer an adult retort but seeing as how you are one of the chosen I will refrain from entering into any dialogue hereafter for it would be wasted time.

How can you respond? You just said if Dak was hanging up 40s and we lost you blame Dak for losing cuz he threw a pick. Lol

Which is basically what you have done for years now,

Last 3 years Dak has run the #1 scoring offense in football yet you blame him for everything.

Perfect example of your complete lack of football knowledge.

Go eagles!!!!!!

As long as the offense is effecient thats the key, Scoring less points while eating clock but having a great score/drive % equals winning football just fine.

All much more important than running up the score.

Yup.

Unless there are mitigating circumstances, .500 teams don't win super bowls. Only exception I can think of is the 07 Giants who won due to the extreme play of their DLine combined w/ a ball control attack. Weren't the 9-7?

Nope, looked it up, 10-6.

Basically, if you can't win more than half your games, that means there are holes in your game that will be exploited by playoff teams.

I think 10-6 is the worst record to ever win super bowl.

No one here will give 2 shiets where we rank if we win when it matters and go far. This isn't Madden. Fresh ideas aren't always BETTER ideas. MM won a SB calling plays. I can't believe how many football experts in TV and Radio that have come out the woodwork since KM left Dallas suddenly.
