Are you still a Garrett supporter?

No. He can roll .500 football with a good QB but thats his limit. He won't get you to the Super Bowl, he's not good enough at that level.

I actually bet he is home by 6pm every day.

Probably the only HC I've had confidence in since Jimmy Johnson left was Bill Parcells. I liked Garrett, I felt he was an upgrade over Wade PhillIps, who I never felt was a good HC although a very good DC. Any good feelings towards Garrett would be nearly eroded by now. With that said, my biggest issue is and will always be the people selecting the players. I just don't think Jones and Son are competent leading a FO.

At some point, the Jones' will make a coaching change, 1 playoff win in 7 years and counting isn't cutting it.

The problems is, I just can't see them getting out of ther comfort zone of hiring someone they previously worked with or identifying an up and coming coordinator or college coach that REALLY would effect change within the organization. Some innovative, creative, energetic coach that gives them a tactical advantage on game day just seems out of reach for the Jones boys. Not turning in my fan card, never leaving the Cowboys, gdamn I just want them to compete for a damn Championship again, or gasp...actually advance to a Conference Title game. I just have ZERO confidence in the leadership. The Jones' make a ton of money, they might be brilliant in business and marketing and all that fine stuff, but they are out of their league with regard to assembling a roster, coaching staff, and creating a culture that produces a consistent winner on the field of play.

I'm curious to get a read on how many fans still have faith that Jason Garrett is the right man for the job or how many fans are ready to move on?

Just your own opinion on what you would like to see happen going forward, and not what you expect Jerry Jones to do.

I'm interested to get a read on how opinions and overall confidence stands at this point.

Not. At. All.

I'd say 50/50, mainly because I remember every Coach since Jimmy with distinct painful clarity and I know we are unlikely to get an upgrade with Jerry in charge. I saw someone calling for Campo in the last 24hrs. That sort of hyperbole is why fan opinions of coaching can't be taken seriously. Garrett has improved on gameday but it's been painfully slow, and the biggest issue now is what looks like player favoritism and lack of Plan Bs. His risk taking and clock management used to be roundly criticized and that has improved in the last 2-3 years. The fake punt yesterday was a great call, and a bs OPI wiped that out, but it was a smart call and executed rather well. However, Jaylon shouldn't be out there and I have no idea why A. Green looked so bad and B. He wasn't yanked earlier and protection slid/play calling shifted. Garrett has the latitude in terms of job security to really flex some decision making and risk taking, but generally appears to refuse to do it until it's too late or it's a fresh year.

I think supporting the team can often run counter to supporting a coach. If the two things aren't going in the same direction, they shouldn't be together.

First and foremost, I support the team. Faces can, do, and quite frankly should change.
I used to Romo Stans on here that you can't be a fan of Romo and Garrett simultaneously when it's so obvious one is hindering the other's ability to succeed. It's not a coincidence Ware won a chip as soon as he left this mess.

Garrett is a good coach. I know it's not popular. But it's true. And more importantly he's probably one of the few coaches who can exist in our management structure. I know that isn't popular but that too is true.
I almost stopped reading your post after I seen "Garrett is a good coach" but you said " management structure"
The problem is the management sucks and Garrett cant win in a flawed management structure.

Everyone knows how I fee so I will move on to the 2nd part of the question:

In my mind with Dak and Zeke so young and being the cornerstones of this team its ripe to get a whole new coaching staff in here. I go out and get the best coach I can find. Get someone out of retirement if that is what it takes. Cowher, Chucky, Jimmy, whatever it takes. And I let them pick whomever they want to be OC and DC's. A new era is ripe to get rolling. Couldnt be more obvious. Cant waste any more years of these great young guys with the happless clappy the clown at the helm.

No. Never have been, I met him when Wade was still the head coach. He's an arrogant piece of crap with no clue how to manage a staff. He has not shown the balls to overrule his coordinators. Or maybe he just doesn't know any better. Either way, NO I don't like Garrett.

Same, but I'm higher than 50/50. Fans only see a fraction of what goes into being a HC and its just like the QB position. Too much credit when things go right and too much blame when things go wrong.

At the end of the day, posters have to admit the team has improved dramatically since Garrett became HC. A lot of that is because of guys like Will McClay, but its still a fact.

Pathetic

I want a young coach, who has a plan, he comes into the office for his interview. This is my 5 year plan and coaches i want installed. Here is the scheme we want because it fits Daks strengths, we are going to build around Elliot and Dak, which means here are the players on offense we want gone. I have no loyalty to them nor them to me.

Will McClay is not bringing in the top flight talent here is my list for new scouts. As you can see their short list of hits and misses but they hit more on top flight talent than looking for gems and missing out on diamonds. Replace them.

Here is the DC i want, hes going to install a scheme that centers around our Pass Rush and the load of CBS you brought in. here is the list of players that can be cut as of today. I want to be hired before the draft and i want this draft to start my offseason. We are going to focus on what works and fix what doesnt. We re not going to ignore depth, back ups have to work as hard as starters because in this league you never know when you ll be a starter.

Here is the OC i want, as i said we ll be focusing on Daks strengths and the running game, we ll get runners to compliment EE and work to pound the defense as much as gain yards. You get 4 tries to make 10 yards, we can do that. We want to work on what works, and cut what doesnt. our plays will work around what is successful, not what we want to impose on the team. WE ll stick to a simple approach and build on it with success.

Here is the ST coach i want, everything your guy did before sucked. We ll be changing that as well Versatile players who know to get hard yards and not be heroes. Get the yards, not always the home run. Simple, ball control that allows our offense to get to work and not work harder.

The first year, i want to implement my changes and see how far the team goes, than we ll evalute and build on what works and what didnt. We ll be focusing on success not a process of shwoing up one week and not the next. If a player doesnt work or make it work, they sit until we can cut them. Im not going to waste time putting a square peg in a round hole.

Second year i want to be in the playoffs, we ll adjust the team with good FAs and a draft for future talent, not immediate unless its the first 2 rounds, if we cant find anything good well trade for more picks. Very simple tactic.

  1. Yes, I'm still a Jerry and Garrett supporter; one embarrassing game won't make me jump ship. Funny how 1-2 weeks ago the entire tone in here was supportive of both. Fans are fickle. That's not to say that you aren't correct about Garrett; I'm just still supporting him.
  2. Jay Gruden? Hell NO! What the hell has Jay Gruden done? He finally had his entire OL back together yesterday and then his defense goes missing, not to mention he makes some of the unexplainable decisions that Garrett was making in his first few years.
