i get that businesses and just about *anyone* wants to follow what is popular and trending to get the largest audience. but the constant bashing of ideals not their own has worn thin and i simply don't care anymore.
movies themselves have changed not in just how they're told, but made. everyone goes nuts over bohemian rhapsody but to me while the story was ok, the way it was told was disjointed and compartmentalized. all the pieces were there and in order i suppose, but it didn't flow well. it just moved from scene to scene. many movies made these days are the said. a star is born was like that also. i was not a fan of bohemian rhapsody in part because of the disjointed style. now it may not be that way to everyone but that how modern movies come across a lot to me.

I almost skipped it but decided to watch it after my wife turned it on. To tell the truth, I did not think the telecast was any less or better not having a host. In fact, I thought the show ran more smoothly without one.
Loved seeing Regina King win Best Supporting Actress. I think she has done real quality work during the past decade. Glad she was finally rewarded.
I was a little shocked First Man won Best Visual Effects. Then again, I have not seen the movie yet. The win grabbed my attention somewhat.
It was pretty transparent seeing Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson paired as presenters. Nice pre-Captain Marvel debut promotion there, ABC (subsidiary of Disney
).Thought the best moment of the night was Jaime Ray Newman accepting the Oscar for Live Action Short Film (I think) hollering WHOO! She would have made Ric Flair proud
. I could not place her immediately but she seemed so familiar that I ended up googling her. She played Sarah Lieberman during season one of The Punisher duh.Got sick of seeing Roma. Roma Roma Roma. Sheesh. Still do not want to catch it on Netflix. Not sure how Netflix got a movie nominated in the first place. Even so, did anyone (for those who watched) see the promo for The Irishman during the show. It is another Netflix film starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Harvey Keitel AND Joe Pesci. Heavyhitters. Who is the director? Martin Scorsese. Is Netflix taking over? What the heck?
...but back to the best moment for me all night. I never heard of The Favourite and had zero inclination towards ever watching it from the clips shown during the show. Then Olivia Colman accepted her Oscar for Best Actress. Maybe it was all an act but she seem taken completely off guard while scrambling to put together an acceptance speech that was purely hilarious. Heck. I may watch the movie now just for her sake.
Amazes me to this day that the Oscars have been on television for decades and people still believe they have all the time in the world to thank everybody on the planet during their acceptance speeches. I would be pissed if I shared an award with someone who hogged the mic for practically the entire time-limit given to each winner. Even so, I laugh my butt off when microphones get cut whenever someone starts their manifesto, lol.

I have to admit it was weird and hard to watch him in that movie.
I felt like I was watching a caricature of Freddie Mercury.
Mercury had sharp, defined features. Malek’s feature were all ballooned and exaggerated.
Sasha Baron Cohen was who I wanted to see.
Anyways. Oscar-wise. Males deserved it.

I am not sure what that is in response to but if that is true, I don't really care as I don't watch award shows for physicists or brain surgeons.

Yeah to bad Sbc backed out of the role. I heard part of it was the band members were trying to control the direction of the film to much when he was involved. I wonder if he’s kicking himself now.

Ultimately, I think they still went in the direction SBC wanted anyway.
I don’t know if he’s kicking himself, I heard they wanted to make second half about the band and how they moved on through strength without mercury,
Anyway. Good movie.

this is part of what got to me. i felt the overbite was way overplayed and he kept licking it all through the movie to draw attention to it.

Yep. Exaggerated and caricature.
I suppose it’s possible that it was like that and a few people close to him knew about that for them to put that in the movie.

It was obvious it didn't fit his mouth and I don't know how the actress playing his girlfriend could keep from fixating on that. I wonder if they recycled the teeth they used on Jerry Lewis in The Nutty Professor?

Yes, actually.
In America, Netflix streaming is responsible for more than one-third of internet traffic at peak times. People are staying in more for entertainment - it is cheaper and easier and more comfortable.
... but movies like Roma are why. Netlix is putting out quality movies and shows. Roma was directed by one of the most acclaimed directors of the 2000s, Alfonso Cuarón, director of films such as Children of Men and Gravity. It was incredibly well directed, acted, and told a unique story.
And Roma is just one of many quality pieces of entertainment to come from Netflix recently. Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black (season 1 at least), Master of None are all pretty good, with some shows such as Mindhunter (my favorite Netflix original), Bojack Horseman, and Black Mirror being arguably great.
Netflix is easily becoming the biggest name in movies and TV, and no one will stop them.
