Cleveland Browns first round draft pick, Quarterback Brady Quinn must hate his fans. He was at mall in Ohio Saturday for an autograph signing — But it wasn’t free like you may expect.
The price to have Quinn’s signature was $75 for a picture and over $200 for other merchandise. And if you brought your own item for Mr. Quinn to sign, he would refuse.
Who does this guy think he is? He has yet to take a snap in the NFL, and when he does, he’ll suck.
Maybe that explains everything; Quinn knows he will be a horrible NFL QB so he’s trying to make as much money as possible without even completing one NFL pass.

Twyst;1563811 said:Are they sure that he was keeping the money? Marques colston and deuce have been doing autograph sessions together in new orleans at a few stores and charging, but the money is given to charity.

Many times, they are told not to sign anything that someone may bring, as the promoter wants to sell their own merchandise. Players get paid hefty sums to sign autographs for companies such as Upper Deck, Field of Dreams, ect... who then turn around and sell the autographed merchandies at premium prices to recoup the money they initially laid out to the player. Promoters recoup their money by allowing only their merchandise to be purchased for signing and by charging a premium price to have something signed at a show, mall, ect.
I worked in the memorabilia business for quite a while and have seen this with almost any player from every sport you can think of ... to include Cowboys such as Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin. Hell, Emmitt had/still has, HIS OWN memorabilia shop in Florida. These guys recognize the money to be made ... and capitalize on it. It's a lucrative business ... so much so, that the Feds began spending quite a bit of time attempting to bust counterfitting operations that sprung up all over.
What's as ridiculous to me ... is the prices charged to actually go to a game.
True. what is going on in this instance says nothing about the guys character.Wrangler87;1562768 said:I think you are getting half the story here. That's probably the price of whatever company is sponsering his appearance there to sign autographs. They pay him for appearing, then fans pay them the money to have the items signed. He is basically under cantract and is not allowed to sign for free at this appearance. This is happens all the time with many athletes.

ccb04;1563952 said:Any rookie has a chance of being a bust (Ryan Leaf, Ki-Jana Carter, Blair Thomas, Tony Mandarich ... ah hell, there's far too many to list). If a guy is at all in demand, rookie or otherwise, people will pay for his autograph. And a promoter isn't going to waste time putting on a show for someone who won't draw. What's far more ridiculous to me, is the signing bonuses and contracts some of these rookies receive without ever having played a down in the NFL.
Doomsday101;1563957 said:I'm just saying I find it funny that people would be willing to pay this price for a guy who has not done jack in the NFL. That autograph has as much chance of one day being worthless as it does being worth something. I agree with you on the rookie contracts and in the case of Quinn they are asking for top 10 money for a guy who was drafted 22nd?
