Compensatory Picks
In addition to the 32 picks in each round, there are a total of up to 32 picks dispersed at the ends of Rounds 3 through 7. These picks, known as "compensatory picks", are awarded to teams that have lost more talented players than they gained the previous year in free agency. These picks cannot be traded, and are awarded based on a proprietary formula based on salary and performance. So, for example, a team that lost a backup quarterback in free agency might get a sixth-round compensatory pick, while a team that lost their best wide receiver might receive a third- or fourth-round pick.
If fewer than 32 such picks are awarded, the remaining picks are awarded in the order in which teams would pick in a hypothetical eighth round of the draft.

Do you think its based on his performance in Dallas or Seattle? It would be very difficult to argue we lost our best RB.

Seriously, I hope the idiot that came up with the nickname, JuJo , slips over to the Seahawks forum and thrusts that painful moniker on their fans. I think I hated that nick name more than anything I've ever hated in my life.

The Cowboys drafted Jones out of Notre Dame in 2004 in the second round. Dallas was so smitten by Jones that coach Bill Parcells passed up the chance to choose Steven Jackson out of Oregon State in the first round. Jones rushed for more than 800 yards each of his first three seasons in Dallas, peaking with a career-high 1,084 yards in 2006.

A little revisionist here. Dallas wasn't "smitten" by Jones, but felt there wasn't enough difference between the top five backs or so to not be willing to trade down. The only player the Cowboys could be said to have been smitten with was Kevin Jones since they tried to trade back up to get him ... which would have turned out to be a worse decision than taking Julius.

No matter how Dallas had those backs rated, the Cowboys' logic proved to be faulty since Jackson is the only one of those backs who has really accomplished anything. Julius might be the second best of that group, though, which isn't saying much.

I bet he does just fine there. I'm not nearly as down on Julius as most people.

Ditto.

I hope that he does well there.

"I love playing here," he said. "The atmosphere, it's 10 times better than Dallas.
If he doesn't tear it up, that could change in a hurry.

and the famous ND hater shows up=what a surprise.

Lets face the facts: the crowd and atmosphere at Seattle is much more intense then it is in Texas Stadium. It sucks that its true but it is.

Living in South Bend, I watched Jones' college career--he was and is an average back. Average would mean he's middle of the road, better than some. He's not a featured back. but i wish him a long healthy career.

I hope the Seattle OL has been doing exercises this offseason to strengthen their backs. That will come in handy when Julius is continually running into them.

Was this really necessary to say? Cant he just be happy to be on a decent team rather than taking sly little pot shots at his old team?

Oh well Julius, Im sure we'll all love your replacement. They might even be 10 times better.

Nothing wrong with the truth. If you've been to games in BOTH Dallas and Seattle it would be as evident to you that it is to everyone else.

For the record. I have never been to a game at either place. But, I have a cousin that has been to many games at Texas Stadium and 3 at Qualcomm. By all of his accounts, Texas stadium is a morgue in comparison. It carries over on TV exactly the same way. Maybe the new stadium will help, but as it stands Texas Stadium hardly provides much "homefield advantage".

Seems that is one of the major differences between people whose posts I like to read and the knuckleheads -- a balanced perspective rather than all or nothing.
On occasion the chest thumping for an agenda being more important than the overall good of the team can be funny.

How anyone cannot understand that if he does well it helps the Cowboys is beyond me.

Of course if he really does well then people will post for years about how we should have kept him. That has some humor value too.

Why not rip him? He just stated that it's 10 times better then playing in Dallas.

If you were good Julius, you would be playing in a stadium in '09 that is 10 times better then there.

I like the fact that Julius Jones didn't throw a player or coach under the bus.

As for his 10x better, that's just an appeal to the new town and new fans. I wouldn't read much more into it.
