I'm switching the topic. Do you like those golf balls and how to they play? What golf ball would you compare or contrast them to? I've been playing the Titleist Pro V1's but am thinking I want to experiment.

Regarding Nike dropping him. If charges are filed every animal cruelty lobby in the world will go after Nike if they don't. It's kind of like what happened to Don Imus. As soon as his sponsors felt pressure, they bailed, and without the sponsors he has no show.

I have never played ProV1's....so I can't really compare them. But what I can tell you from Platinum One's is that they are really soft/and get good touch around the green. I have a Cleveland 588Tour Gun Metal finish Sand Wedge that I bought two months ago....and I switched to these golf balls about a month ago...

The combination of the two have been money for me. I am getting closer to the hole....plus, I can be aggressive (which is a strength of mine as well as a weakness) and stick them near the cup. And my putting has improved (though, I suspect that is due to getting used to my new putter as well...I bought an Odyessy 2 Ball SRT right at the end of golf season last year).

But between all three, my putting has improved drastically (I think I missed about 3 putts by a combined 4-5" from 10+ feet out the last round I played...constantly 1 or 2 putting).

And anything inside 150 yards, I have been money.

But for some reason, my tee shots have sucked as well as my distance (but I think that is due to my swing; not the ball....I've developed a bad habit of dipping my shoulder as I am swinging).

I'd highly recommend getting a sleeve and trying them out.

My scores have stayed the same since switching (but if you watched my tee shots/low iron shots right now), you'd be amazed my scores haven't gotten worse.

It sounds like you do it because Vick endorses it.

:)

I have been using Nike products since I was a kid...

I just switched to a new golf ball (Nike). I have Nike Woods (bought a couple of years ago).... and use other Nike products.

I use them because I like their products.

Whether or not Vick is involved doesn't change how their products perform....so I won't switch. Plus, replacing clubs is expensive. I would love to switch to a Taylor Made r7 Quad...but I don't know if I want to spend $400 on a driver when I just dropped $200 on a putter last year and $100 on a SW two months ago or so and want to add a Gap Wedge (Cleveland, of course) to my arsenal.

I might get a new Driver....but probably something like a Cleveland HiBore...

Cheaper.

But I aint switching golf balls...I found something I like and am keeping that. And my Nike 3-Wood is money.....I have yet to hit a club that hits straighter than that...

(Hostile, if you EVER are looking for a golf club or other golf equipment, check out rockbottomgolf.com - cheap stuff. You probably are already aware of it, but in case you weren't....I just found out about it, makes me regret buying my clubs from Pro Shops all the time)

When buying golf balls keep mind.

Compression rate

Traditionally, the tightness of the golf ball's thread windings determines its compression rate. Due to recent technological advancement, however, the compression rate of a golf ball is now basically dependent on how the ball is affected when it is hit. The compression rating of golf balls usually range from 70-110.

Low compression balls

Balls with compression rating of 70-80 are considered low compression balls. Such balls are soft and are easily deformed or compressed when hit. Players with slow swings are encouraged to use such ball.

Medium compression balls

Most advanced golfers prefer balls with a compression rate of 90. These medium compression balls provide both softness and ease of control.

High compression balls

Golf balls with 100-110 compression rating are high compression balls. Such balls are hard and are less likely to deform upon impact, compared to those with lower compression rates. A high compression ball is ideal for those whose club head speeds are high.

Be keen in knowing how the type of ball or its compression rates affect your performance. Keep in mind that the knowledge of golf ball comparisons is handy in enhancing your strengths and masking your weaknesses in the golf course.

I am shopping for a new set of clubs. Mine are worn out. Been thrown too many times I guess. I went to the Sports Authority and hit some balls with about 9 different club types, all pitching wedges because that is my absolute favorite club. I rarely screw it up.

On the mesh net there is a 1 foot by 1 foot red square that I aimed at. I took 10 shots with each club. Just trying to get a feel for them. There was one simple little set that I was so accurate with it ruined me. They are Jack Nicklaus Q4's. I have always thought Nike, Adams, Ping, Calloway, etc. I mean I had to have a big name set.

It blew my mind how accurate I was with these clubs. I didn't buy them or anything yet because I just can't convince myself that I don't need a thousand dollar set of something name brand. Out of 10 shots at that red square the furthest I was away from it was maybe 6 inches. Most of them hit somewhere in that square. With the other clubs I tried I never hit the square for any brand but was usually fairly close to it.

So now my elitist golf snob sensiblities are all screwed up and I can't decide what to do and what to buy. My current plan is to go back in a couple of weeks and try it again. If I really play that much better with that set, I am probably going to buy it.

My friend Jared (real wise guy BTW) says I should sample each club not just the PW and then buy every one that I test best with. I told him to shut the hell up.

Anyway, this experience has made me want to test balls too.

Personally, I think the Humane Society should stay the hell out of it and that goes for every other self-righteous ******* out there that think they know what should be done. It's Nike's choice and if they want your opinion they will ask for it. Same goes for Rev. Al, and all those other idiots who keep demanding people lose their jobs.

While I agree most of the time that what people have done for them to be up in arms about, it's not their choice whether they get fired or not so they should ****. <- Acronym used ;)

I can only speak for myself, but if he were convicted of the charges, and Nike kept him on the payroll, I would make it a point not to buy from Nike.

and thats exactly how it should be done!

That's good stuff right there. I wish you could switch balls in mid play. Drive with the high compression, pitch with the low compression, putt with the medium. But that's a foul.

I just recently bought the Titleist's 735.CM very sweet clubs. 7 thru 3 Iron are cavity back and 8 through wedge are muscleback to help give you better control

I'll give you credit... I am not nearly that patient.

When I was shopping for a new SW, of course, I always hear how Cleveland is top of the line for wedges....so naturally, I wanted to try one out.

At first, I found the Vokey's...Good clubs, but I wasn't wowed. I found the Clevelands, sampled the 588Tour.....voila. Magic. And I bought it. Didn't try out any other SW's.

Now, with my putter, oh God....did that take forever. I tried everything under the sun, from Ping to Scotty Cameron to Odyessy.

I swore I would always use a traditional putter; not the stuff that looks like it came from a science magazine. Nothing felt too "great" to pass up on. Finally, the guy hands me the SRT 2 Ball....and it was great. The touch, the feel, the way the ball started to roll right away from the moment of impact...

Everything was perfect.

Except my putting stroke. I never used a straight back and forth stroke, mines always had that little arc. I had to change my putting stroke for this putter. And because I bought it towards the end of golf season, I didnt get a lot of practice with it. Its funny, because a couple of weeks ago, I contemplated selling it and buying a traditional putter. I thought I was nuts for changing my putting style and didn't think I'd every reap the benefits I thought I would. And then, out of nowhere, two weeks ago....everything clicked. I am WAY more consistant than I've ever been. From 10+ feet out and I am constantly at the cup, within a couple of inches when I miss....

It took forever and I was getting frusturated. But once it clicked, man....I am so happy I never gave it up.

Question on Drivers though: What do you use? What do you recommend? Hitting straight is usually not a problem for me (I am counting the past two weeks as a fluke that can be fixed with practice....I have never had this problem before). My swing speed is pretty fast.

No kidding.

But when forced to choose, I want more touch and control around the green.

What does Nike care about dogs? They employ children to make stuff in other countries.

I still use a 15 year old Big Bertha because I can absolutely crush it. So I am in the market there too. She's worn out. Love the look of the Sasquatch but haven't tried it yet. I hear nothing but good things about the Adams Insight. I'm really anxious to try it.

I will try those. I didn't see any Titleist clubs at SA when I was shopping, so I may need to go elsewhere.

If POS gets charged Nike will drop him like a hot potato.

Right now The Human Society and PETA can't REALLY get on Nike's *** because nothing has happened yet....as far as getting charged.

If he does...They won't stop until something is done.

Sic him PETA!

We'll see how he likes it.

Hey if someone can equate the Humane Society with Al Sharpton, I figured it was worth a crack

No one equated the Humane Society with Al Sharpton.

In fact until you brought him up in that post no one had even mentioned Sharpton's name.

You know, at some point in your life you might want to think about toughening up. Minor things really upset you.

I personally think all of those over sized heads on drivers are ugly. But I sure like the power behind them.
