So, she gets groped all the time (as an unfortunate part of her job), but files a complaint this one time because................

Do the freaking math.

Are you telling me that strippers dont get groped?

You are both wrong.

Hostile... "but files a complaint this one time because...." how about because she chose to. Its that simple. Filing a complaint means nothing more than she wanted to file a complaint.

And YestoTO, just because strippers may encounter groping doesn't mean its right. If the club has a no touch policy, then guess what, you should be able to be smart enough to adhere to that.

Never assume I am naive. I'm not.

You're the one who makes it sound like it's okay because of her job, not me. To quote you, "A stripper got groped, this is news?"

Given recent happening in the NFL...yeah, it's news.

In this day and age, professional athletes who place themselves in these situations (going to strip clubs, etc.) are simply staying true to Forrest Gump's momma's adage, "Stupid is as stupid does." 'nuff said.

"But the opportunity to dance at Spearmint Rhino isn't a birthright. It's a license that can be revoked if certain unsavory accusations prove untrue, or bring blight upon the brand the company so passionately protects."

Exactly right. The whole time I was wading through this thread that was the thought I had. Why go to a strip club in the first place? Why put yourself in these situations? How stupid do you have to be to not learn from everyone else's mistakes?

Rogers isn't a 22-year old kid straight out of college, he's been in the league for 6 years and is 28 now.

When I was 28 I was married with 2 kids and managed 60 people on my job. I had long since outgrown strip clubs and getting drunk and had a life to live but these guys never seem to grow up, they still want to be college kids. Getting drunk and acting stupid is a way of life for them.

Unfortunately, they have gotten away with it thus far and have had no reason to stop or to grow up. Good for Goodell that he is bringing the hammer down on them. It is long past time for it.

Some people are so hung up on what is legal. Instead of what is right. You do not touch a woman unless she allows it. No matter where you are or what she is doing. If the strip club allows it that is one thing. If not then Rogers was very wrong and should pay the price.

I see your line of thinking. He can still go to a strip club and avoid trouble at the same time. Why go to the dressing room? The claims of him groping her may be false, but just going to the dressing room is enough to show poor judgment on his part. I would not be surprised if they had him on camera going to the dressing room.

And some are hung up on what's alleged to have happened, rather than what might actually have happened.

I don't think anyone here is arguing that Rogers should get leniency if the allegations are proven true.

First of all, there seems to be some evidence more than a grope happened.

Second of all, the fact she is a stripper should have no bearing on this at all. Would you be angry if it was a nurse? Waitress? Congresswoman? At what point do you draw the line on human worth of women?

Great point.

I don't want to exaggerate a point, or be too accusatory. But you hear rapists and serial killers "dehumanize" their victims (usually prostitutes) all the time.

Now, there's a long way between "groping" and raping/killing....but there seems to be a lot of people dehumanizing strippers. Sure, their job is unsavory, and you're going to see some stupid behaving people, but it doesn't give anyone the right to treat them any different than the cashier at Wal-Mart.

I hold to this value.....If you see a buck-naked woman lying on your bed with legs spread wide, and she says "no", yet you do it to her anyway...even if she doesn't struggle....that's rape.

Sorry....I this is a little flashpoint for me....I'm gonna stop before I get too excited. Let's just say that many views for men on this board will change when you have a little girl of your own.
