(By the way, I meant 2008). As in 2008, RB Felix Jones is averaging nine yards per carry. That is NOT a typo. In 2008, Jones averaged 8.9 yards every time he carried the football. This year, he is slightly better with a 9.1 average. He has carried the ball a total of 13 times the past two games, for a total of 118 yards. If he were to tote the rock, say, 20 times a game, like most starters, he would be averaging 180 yds./game.
Bottom line, as much as I love the Barbarian, he was at his best closing games that Julius Jones started. FELIX is three times the RB Julius was, and he's running 6.5 times a game??! It's like, "Hello, is anyone home?".
Jason Garrett had the kind of offense every OC dreams of last night-A QB who's having a rough night, but an offensive line & RBs who are still gashing the other team all night. So, what does he do? Two or three series in a row in the second half, with Dallas in the lead, after 'only' getting 3-4 yards rushing on first down, he puts Romo in the shotgun on 2nd & 6, 2nd & 7. They did run out of it occasionally, but it still pretty much takes away the play action pass, which a great running game always creates.
Bottom line, Felix Jones is the greatest playmaker on this team. Failing to get him the ball 20-25 times a game is beyond comprehension. It cost them the opening game of their great new stadium, and it will continue to cost them until they figure out how to get their best player the ball.
