Zeke has the 4th most rushing yards in the league since 2019 and is an elite pass protector. So he's been a top 5 RB in that time but most definitely not at the very top or worth his AAV.
After this season he will either get renegotiated down in cost or he will be released.
And then the totals will change.

So he is NOT getting 16 AAV. But 12.5 AAV is a lot at RB.

McCaffrey is 19th in rushing yards since 2019.
His contract is much worser than Zekes.

More dead cap hit, higher AAV and far less production.

It says it all. Best way to beat the blitz in the NFL is have your back fake a block and flare out into the flat quick and burn them for 60 yards. Problem is Zeke cant do that.

This has been one of my major gripes. You nailed it. A number of backs in this offense, with this line could have put up great numbers.

The contract is bad for the team. There is no spinning that reality.

The fact the Joneses had Zeke under contract for two more years left on his rookie deal when they ponied up this horrible deal makes it even dumber.

A smart owner/ GM would have told him to sit his prime years in Cabo jogging the beach. He would have been back before the 1st game.

I don't get the 3 year average purpose. Cap numbers are inflated and deflated to make certain years work/shove money to future years to deal with.

Contracts are restructured or cut all the time. I doubt CMC is even on the roster for 3 years the way he piles up injuries.

Zeke may have a 22-24 average of 16mil per year, but that doesn't mean his average cap hit will actually be that over those 3 years.
Zeke got the highest amount of guaranteed but he also got the longest contract, intentionally as the Jones gang loves to restructure their core players

The only red flag to me was the % of guaranteed vs total contract.
Both Kamara and CMC got under 50% at signing.

Kamara is suspended to start the season and CMC missed almost all of last year... I'd say out of the three we've gotten the most production and return on investment even though the contract is not in our favor.

Some refuse to see that. It's Zeke money that's the problem on this board......want a RB getting his own yardage at that pay. OL is not up to the acclaimed status earned over the years. Injuries to the OL have taken a toll, depth for good blocking has suffered, and reputation has blinded some to only sling rocks at Zeke.

If you believe or have bought into the hype from Jethro that this is a team built to win a championship the joke is on you.

And having to pay your franchise QB market value is a different issue. I’ve also said Jethro mismanaged it as well.

any large second contract to any RB is bad. I don't care how good they are. history shows none are worth the money. RBs can easily be found in any round and can be RB by committe as proven by many teams.

Second contracts like this certainly aren’t healthy. And you make the point that this writer was making that we could have found another RB in draft.

Fans forget Murray led the league with basically same OL in 2014 as Zeke had in 2016.

Dallas made the tough cap decision with Murray but didn’t with Zeke. If we’d of waited until Zekes rookie contract had matured we’d of been in better shape to negotiate.

But in 2019 with him threatening not to play our ownership buckled under pressure . And we didn’t have a playoff season anyway. 2020 Dak was hurt. Another wasted season and then Zeke hurt in 2021. 3 seasons without enough production to warrant contract.

We should have rolled the dice in 2019 and called his bluff . But there was something else at play and where our dysfunctional ownership continues hurting us. Jethro was worried with Daks contract coming up in 2020 that without Zeke , Dak and our offense wouldn’t be as effective and public perception might not have been as supportive to pay Dak.

One more example of the jones boys incompetence. We could have gotten Zeke for less with a REAL GM and competent people around him.
Will McClay is allowed to do only so much.
Frankly I think he is the only intelligence in the entire front office.
