As usual, Jerry and company are bystanders in FA

I always approach signings as a 3 way corner. Owners, players, agents. When a deal isn't being done I view it as one of those 3 at least aren't on same page.

There were people complaining there was no signing 3 hours into the day. Yes there were a small handful of teams making moves in those few hours, most vastly overpaid. It's to those the hand wringing comments are addressed.
.
And you know that Bob, it's why you prefaced your reply with not being upset at day 1.
I’m just tired of this foot dragging script. They will sign Parsons at some point. For way more than they had to though.

Then after wasting time and cap space, they will make excuses for why they can’t do anything else.

IMO, Cowboys fans have a right to be sick and tired of this front office and their incompetent cap management.

Washington is building a football team while Ol Jerry and Son are clowning around,Parsons was ready to sign and you could have got him done earlier and at a better price. Why wait it makes no sense he is more expensive now.
In addition to what I said yesterday about hanging on to signing bonus money longer and making money elsewhere with it, he also wants the headlines, and the media constantly asking him about it…then thinks he is the hero when he finally gives out a record deal…and claims that he is the only one who could get that done. Pathetic.

Spot on and exactly right , I am a longtime Dallas fan 51 years since 1973 I love the Cowboys but this clown show is pretty bad .This Parsons situation is out there in the twilight zone, wow.

Pathetic is a good word for them it makes me sick how they run this Great Franchise into the ground , while Ol Jerry grins like an old possume.

Different year…same results. The Cowboys have to pay Micah so they will use that as their excuse this season for not being aggressive in free agency. Dallas will have the majority of their cap space tied up in just 3 players; so cannot “afford” to pay players like Lewis and Gholston. Letting quality starters and depth walk and unable to upgrade other positions of need with quality starters. This is exactly what happened last year.

They'll try to sign Parsons in July or August. Just like how they approached deals with Dak and Lamb,

I am actually hoping Parsons tells them to go poop in a hat.

is it unusual? no exactly the same as past few years...past decade if you ask me.

Kinlaw just signed with Washington, for 3 years 45M...wouldn't that solidify the middle of the line. and 15M is not much in this day and age....

I am so sick and tired of the jones circus boys
There are so many proof points that confirm that Jerry is not a qualified GM and that he and Stephen are simply out of their depth. But for me, nothing is as convincing as their belief that you can neglect free agency and build/maintain primarily through the draft.

Even if you draft well, you don't have enough picks - especially premium round picks - to address the bulk of your needs. Plus, you're saying that for the needs you can address, you're going to do so only with rookies. You need to use a blend of draft picks, FA and trades. It's simple math. The draft alone isn't enough. The fact the Jones boys don't comprehend that is staggering.

I tend to agree. you have to fill some gaps and positions you missed in the draft with FA if your goal is to win championships. that is not our primary goal. thus we wait until 4th, 5th, 6th round of FA to fill gaps. at this point I don't care about top 10 FAs, but at least get involved in second wave.

If they sign Parsons know we will gain salary cap space so that’s not an excuse!

They have signed 3 rotational players in 2 days. Lots of talent still out there, but they will need to open open the checkbook to improve the team.

CB is a problem until Diggs returns, unless he is released, which creates a massive void behind Bland. Need at least two solid contributors.

RB is a push at best, but feels like a downgrade. Need to draft a good one.

DT is a push at best. Still need a run stopper.

LB is significantly worse unless Kendricks is retained. Probably need to bring in a difference maker and a depth piece.

WR needs another steady pass catcher. I hope they are not banking on Tolbert being the #2. QB1 needs talented pass catchers and a strong run game. Neither are in place at this time. Kupp solves alot of problems here but there are plenty of quality #2 receivers to choose from that are available right now.

I will not be mad if Smith, Hoffman/Bass, and Beebe are the guys at IOL, but the new guy they brought in does not move the needle forward. Depth piece at best. Ideally we would want an upgrade at RG, but I do not think that will happen this offseason.

OT is a problem until Guyton puts it all together. I have a feeling they're going to bank on his improvement and a return to form from Steele, which is a huge gamble with an immobile Dak in the pocket.

Oh, and we need a punter too.

There is still plenty of time to build this roster, but adding depth without addressing starting CB, LB, RB, DT, WR, and LT/RG before the draft is going to be a problem. Why free up $50m+ in cap space and prolong financial burdens of Dak's contract if you do not plan on building a strong roster to compliment what is looking like a shaky foundation?
