MMQB: Stephen Jones nugget

Stephen Nepo-baby Jones needs to just shut up. I hate hearing him talk even more than his daddy. It's always either disinformation or just something totally ridiculous. The only way he can gain my respect is by making Will McClay the GM after his daddy is gone.

This really highlights just how clueless he is.

Does every team realistically have a chance to win a SB every year? Heck no.

This league is based on rewarding losing. IE the draft. How do you get the best chance at drafting the best quality players and specifically QBs. Top 5 draft picks.

Manipulation of the cap is a cyclical operation. Max out the card. Push payments. Eat dead cap. Rebuild. Wash, rinse repeat.

Coordinating when you should lose vs when your roster is on the verge of being good MATTERS.

But to keep the ad money, naming rights, sponsors etc flowing in, Jed wants to keep the team relevant. Mediocre PAYS. Unfortunately it rarely wins.
I continue to try to get this point across.

It’s extremely underrated as a problem, and may in fact be the root. They definitely don’t get that, billionaires or whatever….they aren’t good at building an NFL winner, but Jerry “bought an occupation.”

Yes, the system is set up for a peak and valley type inevitability for anyone, but these two think they can fight the tide and never have a down cycle….which they end up with anyway.

Even now, people are all pumped over Pickens and that’s fine, but this team has many other holes that will eventually be its downfall that they refuse to address, presumably to avoid future cap issues.

You’d have to draft nearly perfectly every year for their plan to work….not better than other teams…like MUCH better than other teams, and they just don’t, but shouldn’t be expected to. It’s untenable. All their plan really accomplishes is preventing them from winning within their window when it’s open.

Has Stephen ever explained last off-season? How can you be "all in" while losing a bunch of veterans and signing next to nobody to replace them?
They were all in on making sure MM had a losing season, so they could let him walk with
no objections from fans.
They could not do that if MM went 12-5 again.
Do more with less lol , it was sabotage.

Junior desperately feels compelled to take up for Daddy, no matter how absurd it is!

In all honesty, he probably feels that it's his duty to make his dad appear lucid, even if it isn't so?!
That can also be called respectable loyalty.

Oh, Daddy ain't a fool and his family is respectfully set...without bankruptcy.

Family participation with NFL jobs has been fully respectable...perhaps look into a mirror.

They are probably counting paying Dak and CeeDee a crap ton of money as "all in"
If they did then they are foolish lol, they can opt to say nothing they don’t always have to speak especially if it’s a retooling year

It also depends if one supports misinformation or not. Being "all in" was questionable to many who felt grossly misinformed of the true nature of things. It's largely in the eyes and ears of the beholder.

Its not just drafting perfect, its where you draft. Winning a couple meaningless games last year with Rush is a prime example. And they even had the perfect out.

Play Lance. If he loses, as expected, then you now have a top 5 pick, or better.

If he wins, then maybe you have a little something to work with and you resign him.

But nope. We knew Dak was done for the year. Did Jed really think Rush and that pathetic defense was going to make the playoffs, let alone do anything if they miraculously managed to?

There are sooo many examples of extremely poor roster decisions that I simply cant fathom a real GM making.

The point being there is no right way to do the wrong thing. Being a fan does not include stereotyped bias as truthful alone!

Loyalty belongs in sport and support of team tops that list. Not love of gold jewelry. Reexamine morales.

Awesome post. Let's not forget...they wanted to bring McCarthy back! Now after a clear bungled 2024 - we could easily have had Jeanty on the team if we played Lance and lost - we're supposed to believe this is some well-oiled machine. Americans love to believe we are uber-sophisticated and play 4-dimensional chess...whilst being duped by carnival barkers and con-men.

There is more than one way to define many things, depending largely upon one's viewpoint. That's not to cast negative connotations upon loyalty, nor any other outlook or feelings worthy of admiration. It's also possible to see words of intent in various perspectives of the listener. Trust plays a large part in defining the speaker's intent, and whether he's seen as trustworthy or not.

You were too passive last year and are trying to make up for it this year. We can see what you’re doing, it’s obvious. Our gm overestimated how good the roster was last year

No way to do the wrong thing. Biased just potential stereotype isn't doing the right thing.

Some may also be waiting for a new Pope. Solve that one your doubting way?

I will not lie, steal, cheat, or support those who do. Ethics.

Pessimistic...the Pope might be an Oriental Monk. Think?
