Ya'll are blind if you can't see that Asante is better than TNew. Newman is a good corner, but Samuel is one of the best (I would say the best, but I want to see how he does on another team with inferior talent around him before I make that claim).

I dont think he is as consistent in coverage as Newman but he is right there.

Its apples and oranges though. You can flip a coin imo.

How is Asante better than Newman?? Cause he's constantly jumping routes and making plays 25% of the time only to give up the big play 75% of the time?

It's amazing how overrated this kid is to the point that people will say he's better than Newman because he has more picks.

Don't get me wrong, I love Asante's play making ability, but he's not a "shut down" corner. It's too easy to make him dive across the field in the redzone with a simple pump fake.

Say what you want about Newman and his lack of play making history(tho he did just that to Washington and the Jets), but at least he does his job and stays on his man.

wow! 75% of the time huh:laugh2: so while newman is picking off a second year qb and a rookie, samuel is picking off peyton manning and philip rivers.

I dont disagree about Newman being better but after Newman and Champ Asante is right there.

He isn't getting killed 75% of the time. He plays the ball very very well.

1. I suppose Roy Williams is a shut down safety in coverage for picking off Peyton in the redzone last time we played em.

2. LOL @ you imply picking off Rivers is something special.

My 75% of the time was his route jumping. He's too hyper and people get too focused on when it pays off, they overlook how many times it doesnt. Trust me, I've watched most of NE's games all season and I look at how he plays the ball every time its thrown to him.

Once again, I know he's a good corner, but he's not that great, IMO.

philip rivers team went 14-2 last year. this year he was on one leg and won 2 playoff games and played very well in them. do you think philip rivers is not a good qb?

What does his team's record has to do with how many times he gets picked off? He was subpar for the majority of the season. And during that pick by Samuel in the AFC Championship, he was intentionally tripped which is supposed to be flag worthy.

Yes I am enamored with Asante Samuel. And its not because he picks off balls and takes the to the house.

He plays the ball well period. He doesn't get roasted as much as some of you would like to believe he does. I dont even know where your getting this info.

I had this same arguement last year with people. If he goes somewhere else and is mediocre then OK but I would be absolutely shocked if that happened.

ok so rivers was tripped yet campell threw that pick right to newman. all he had to do was catch it. how many picks does newman have in 2 playoff games? hell even against seattle newman had to tip the ball to roy cause he can barely catch a football.

Either you got a grudge with Newman or you're sweet on Samuel. Take your "pick".

In watching the SB replay. I had forgot that Asante Samuel could have ending the game if he would have intercepted the sideline pass.

We already have CBs that don't make the winning int. We need to Pass on AS.

Quite glad that you are not evaluating talent for my team, or any team for that matter, cause you're clearly out of it.

Nice try.

Not at all. I love Newman. Everyone seems to forget he doesn't exactly get a crap load of passes thrown his way.

I know people will point at the Carolina game, against Steve Smith after Newman got hurt, and try and say that is indicitive of his play but that just shows how fickle fans of Dallas are.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence with our fans.

I've come to realize, on the forums, that we have a whole lot of posters that "watch every play of someone on some team" and still seem to get things wrong.

They see a really good/great corner have a bad game, or get beat 1 or 2 times in an entire year and then they'll have everyone believe that they're garbage and getting killed all the time.

Please, people, this is why you're fans and not NFL scouts/coaches. You don't know quite as much about players and their abilities as you're egos would like to think you do.
