Ashton Jeanty, TMAC and Jihad Campbell on the board at 12

BPA that's not a RB.

You posters don't want to pay RB's, so why waste a valuable pick on one if the position is so devalued? Because you think he's a generational talent that can't bust? If he doesn't bust, are you gonna wanna pay him?

Trade down if the offer is good. Or go for an expensive position you are willing to pay second contract on.
It's going to go back to being devalued with so many stud RBs coming out of college.

They're a dime a dozen.

If you want an offensive weapon, I'd say take TMac, the best DT on my board in the 2nd and hit RB in the 3rd. Or even after.

It's likely a mistake to take Golden at 12. Love my alma mater. Golden is good. Will likely be a decent to good player. But 12 is high for him.

Both Campbell and T-Mac have the potential to be stars in this league. Only one of the three is a generational talent at his position.

Jeanty has been called "Emmitt Smith with speed" Only one RB in the history of college football had more career yardage, Barry Sanders.

I don't hear anyone calling T-Mac "the next Jerry Rice".

Even if Campbell was "the next Lawrence Taylor", we already have one of those.
Emmitt Smith is the most overrated player in history, though, in my book.

He's the so-called all-time leading rusher because Jerry sacrificed making the team better and upgrading the position to sell tickets. The Cowboys could have been so much better in 2002. But they just kept handing Emmitt the ball in order to get the record. Those were my worst years being a Cowboy fan. It had become less about winning a SB and all about Emmitts ego and the rushing record.

He was a decent player. Don't get me wrong. But he was a lot like TO. Emmitt liked him some Emmitt. He had the best oline money could buy during an era when there was no cap. The NFL has never seen such a dominant line since and had never before that line....and that was a huge part of it.

By most mock draft Ashton Jeanty will be gone by pick 12, but who would you take if the best RB, WR and LB is on the board at pick 12. Im torn, love Jeanty, TMAC and CD could be lights out and Campbell and Parson could be a nightmare for offenses. Who would you take. FYI: I dont like Golden, he is to small and not sure if he is a true stand alone #1 WR. TMAC reminds me of DJ Moore or Mike Evans and that would make a crazy match up with CD and TMAC.
Trade back

Take the best trade down offer.
Spot on. Its the ideal scenario as we trade down if there's someone thats sort after. As I think youre in agreement with, what we can build with that trade capital will potentially resolve our roster weaknesses.
Some fans forget that we lose, not just because our positives arent good enough, it's that teams play on our weakness, weaknesses that are so easy to scheme against.

Has to be someone picking up the phone, because the Cowboys don't, this has been discussed to the bones, I just don't get you!
If you had Jeanty and/or Tmac on the board, at 12, SOMEONE, will phone us. If it's Jeanty we are are going to have to install 'call waiting' and a telephonist.

No way
Trade down to 20-22

You definitely don't trade back if an impact player is there. We don't need a bunch of quantity. We usually suck picking at the tail end of the 1st round as well. What impact player have we gotten when we've picked in the tail end of the 1st round?

What the hell are you talking about?

You do realize that the Cowboys have traded down 2 of the last 4 years, right?
Duh someone lol had to come calling for our pick!!! It's that simple, we don't say hey you DOWN THERE do you want our pick, why because that's how you lose the trade!!!! I mean do you even listen to what's being said? I don't watch the games and you don't listen to the experts!!

Most of the mocks I have done and seen have Jeanty going earlier than we pick but I wouldn’t be upset if he were a cowboy

Dude is a physical freak but he also has a lot of carries already he’s gonna be wore down by the second contract time comes. If the cowboys believe he’s the missing piece to success then by all means grab him . I just don’t think he is

I’d be for a trade down but not very far then grab best receiver on board perhaps golden as he’d be a good CeeDee pairing.

I don’t believe all rb are created equal so there’s merit in taking one high. We need to be grabbing one early no later than pick 76.

The problem with 2016 pick at RB is they grabbed the wrong one and the wrong pick but hindsight is 20/20.

The cowboys have lots of needs which is why I don’t believe they can miss in round 1 unless they do something stupid and grab a TE if the cowboys draft Warren I’ll be livid

They have. 99 Rams.

Good point. We're only good in the 1st round picking early to middle. When the player to take is obvious.

I thought Jerry said he was not taking a RB at 12. Did I misread that?

Of the 3 players listed I would say TMac, but I need to see who else is there.

I am not usually a trade down believer when you have a pick this high, but this year I am a strong advocate of trading down. I've done mocks where I traded out of the 1st round and still wound up with a really good group of draftees. Of course mocks aren't close to the real thing, but I think the point is there is depth in this draft and taking 13 players, 5 in the first 2 days increases the likelihood of finding a few starters.

I also believe we are going to see some surprises in this draft and it is possible we see some surprises available at 12 or 44.

I like all 3 personally, but Jeanty is the easy pick there.
Some of you guys need to stop with the trade downs in every single thread with tunnel vision regardless of who is there. You don't win SBs by passing on great players and just plugging "ok" guys into holes. That's how you get Taco and Trysten Hill and Mazi. BPA gives you Micah and CeeDee. Next year if we are on the verge of becoming a contender, then you worry about filling holes that may sink your season. This team is not anywhere close to that. Now if you don't like anyone on the board, that's a different story, but after a full offseason I find it hard to believe there aren't 12 players out there we are really really high on. Knowing we need OL alone gets us to around a third of that number.

I don't remember that. If Jeanty was there I think Jerry would skip up to the podium himself all the way from Frisco to hand in the card

You might be referring to Broaddus saying that "his sources" told him Dallas wouldn't take Hampton? And that's from Broaddus who is pretty much never right and I think he just makes half of his crap up at this point anyway.

If not smart enough to take a Defensive player at 12, at least take a WR. With the 28th-ranked defense, this team is not going to be able to run the ball. This team is going to be throwing 45 times a game, trying to catch up..
