At least Jim Rome is on our side

The next tool that says something stupid about the Irish and corn beef is getting a fecing roasting.

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!! STOP POSTING!!

I don't like soccer, never have, I understand the game and play a five a side every week to keep fit. It's called the beautiful game and all that nonesense, but it is slow, and it is mostly boring. Most soccer fans will complain about the stoppages in American throwball, but in soccer the ball averages being in play for 60 mins out of 90. Also, when teams play for the draw it is the most mind numbing experience you can watch.

Rome is right about Romo and soccer.

Agreed... Soccer might be the original Futbol and massively popular around the globe but it's still really San Franciscolike...

Especially when he bashes soccer saying that noone cares about it when the only countrys in the world that soccer isn't popular is Canada and the U.S. But thats another issue. Anyways he loves Romo and I think thats about the only cool thing about him.

I have no problem with soccer, any event that inspires a person to give it their all is great in my opinion. I do find it a tad boring to watch, but that's just my opinion.
I do get tired of soccer fans that say its the most popular sport in every country but the U.S. (or Canada in your case). It is true that overall it is the most popular, but there are a lot of countries in which soccer is a second-tier sport. For example, in Japan baseball is king with the traditional sport of sumo as #2. When I was in Australia, rugby and Australian rules football seemed to be the dominant sports. In Russia, and in a lot of Eastern European countries, winter sports dominate.
Not to mention the fact the Soccer's popularity in South America and in Africa mostly comes from the days of Western European Imperialism.
Just my two cents.

I could hate Jim Romanovsky for his personality alone.
His voice still sounds like a pouty 14-year-old's.
And his meanspirited and immaturity are legendary. Baiting Jim Everett that way. Making fun of kids who live in trailer homes. Laughing at the disabled and the injured. The list goes on and on.

I don't want somebody like that jerk on our side.
I'd rather he be on their side. Like Philly, Oakland, Chicago.
Teams more suited to his thinking.

I actually really enjoy The Jim Rome show, on the radio, and listen to it often at work. I don't know that I totally agree with his take on soccer, but I'm bias cause my little boy plays and I have a good time watching his teams, but by in large I'm sure that it's not overly popular here in the United States. Which, to me, is more what his 'nobody cares about soccer' statement comes from. I don't know for sure, cause I've never researched it, but I doubt Rome has a ton of people listening to his radio show outside of the United States.

Maybe in Canada.

Ever hear of a radio/t.v. personality? I went to high school and played baseball with Jim Rome. What you hear on radio and see on t.v. is an act. He is nothing like you hear or see on radio/t.v. He is actually a very nice, respectful kind-a-guy!!

It's hilarious that people find soccer boring and yet love baseball.

I think baseball is equally boring, but at least it is American.

Rome is a radio GOD and soccer is gay. Any sport that ends in 0-0 ties is lame. As for these "passionate" soccer fans... Yeah, lets glorify the fans a sport that has more deaths related to the sport than all the other sports in the world combined!
Low scoring games is the biggest myth in all of sports. You always assume that 99% of soccer games end in a scoreless draw when that couldn't be further from the truth. There are as many touchdowns scored as there are goals scored. The only diffrence is how much they are worth. If touchdowns were worth 1 point there would be same scores as soccer. BTW, it's not soccer it's football. America is the only country in the world that calls it soccer. A group of fans don't speak for all of the fans. So don't judge 99% of the fans because of what the rest do. If anything american football bores me than real football. Real football doesn't take breaks, stop after every play, take timeouts, or "play for 60 minutes'. In reality every player only plays about 30. Real football players have to be in the best condition of any sport. Cause when they play 90 minutes non stop they really do play 90 minutes. You wouldn't last 5. You also think the super bowl is the biggest game in the world when it's nowhere near it. Don't bash "soccer" because I can easily bash american football(as much as I love it). It's a mystery to me why people love golf(how did tiger ever get injured when he has never broken a sweat in his life) and hate soccer. For some reason you think golf is exciting. How is that possible?

I dont care wut this guy says, him thinkin that about soccer just shows how much he really knows about sports. no sport brings rises the passion that soccer does.

but yeah thats another issue....;)

No other sport besides football ( soccer for those in the states) , has the passion of a country backing a team. Olympic games are nothing compared to the world cup, champions league, or euro cup. The world cup, for those who like soccer (forgive me rest of the world for using the term soccer), is like having a superbowl last weeks, countrys come to a hault during games. Im hoping for the states to do good, maybe then people will enjoy soccer. But hey, were the only ones stuck back in the english customary system of units, so im not sure when we'll change our ways.

If you understand how offsides works in soccer and still do not like it that is one thing but most people don't understand the rules and hence the game so they reject it out of hand.

I lived in Germany for 5 years and went to weekly city level games because a good friend, who happened to be German, always had free tickets for me and practically begged me to go. Even then I thought it was ***** than a $3 bill but I really enjoyed the brats, beer, & hot women. I know the rules very well but still think it's a bore to watch.
