At this point, are the Cowboys hiding Trey Lance?

Trance is a free agent. He might sign for one year at the minimum allowed in the CBA. That means he’s less expensive than day one and day two draft picks, with less of a commitment. And despite that the only team that might possibly be interested in him, south of the Canadian border, is the Cowboys.

Look at what successful teams do. The Chiefs back up quarterback has started over 100 games, has a winning record in his starts, matriculated at the same school as Trance, the Chiefs gave up nothing to acquire him, and paid him less than the Cowboys paid Trance for the 2024 season. He’s going to a free agent, too.

They’ll both be on the market for 2025. Wentz will be signed as a back up by a well run team after this season. Trance will be the back up on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Guess we will see if another NFL team sign him during free agency.

I doubt it. Honestly not playing the guy in a time where you dont have any playoff chances probably doesn't make him more likely to want to come back to Dallas.

Trey is probably better off going to compete for a spot with a team that runs a lot more RPOs and designed QB runs. I've never thought he really fit as Daks backup simply due to him being a total 180 in terms of skill set.
This! ^^^ Another example of having a complete moron as your GM. If JJ has checked with his head coach before making that trade, it would have never happened. Lance’s skill set does not fit what McCarthy wants from his QBs. Cowboys don’t use a lot of RPOs and don’t want the QB running a lot.
