At what point will people stop overrating the "talent" on this team?

I still think the secondary could be upgraded in 3 out of 4 positions. Maybe Mike Hamlin is an upgrade next year.

This is the best secondary we've had in a very long time IMO. GS has been the best SS we've had in about 5 years. KH has...well...do you remember the lynn scott tony dixon days? jenkins has been a standout and newman before this year has been our best corner on the roster for a while. we also have depth in scandrick and ball....

Top 5 goats

Andre Gurode - Pro Bowl center than can't even catch the opposing team offsides and routinely lets guys come free in a manner that resembles unabated to the QB.

Marion Barber - What is this guy good at aside from celebrating every mundane play and killing momentum? He was a revelation when he began to take snaps from Julius Jones, but that ship has sailed.

Marc Columbo - He can't block an above average DE, but he sure is tough!

Terence Newman - When he isn't in the training room, he's getting toasted or talking himself up in an interview.

Keith Brooking - Did he play in a game after week 8? Is he a linebacker or a mascot?

Oddly enough your top five goats aren't the guys being rated high in terms of talent. That would be our QB, TE, #1 WR (Austin) and our 2 non-starting backs; Spencer, Ware, Ratliff and Jenkins. Rightfully so, they've all played well this year.

Your list makes doesn't correlate with your complaint..
Brookings is never called a top flight LB'er, he's being hailed for his emotion and leadership.

No one really says much about Gurode, he normally is reliable and doesn't need to be called out like someone is calling him the Jerry Rice of centers. No one is.

No one has been over rating Newman either. For the most part it's almost unanimous that he's been surpassed by Jenkins and some are saying even worse.

And definitely not Barber. The best he gets is, 'he was fine before his quad'. No one is over rating that guy at all.

Colombo did fine this year, and for the most part really only was celebrated for shoving Brandon Jacobs.

They were part of getting the team as far as it did and yesterday they flopped. The absence of an all out assault on their character isn't over rating them. They're fine. The real goats have been the kickers, and Garrett on occasion.

I agree, our secondary is very strong and with the youth in those position, I think we will see a lot of ball-hawking next year. I can't remember the last time I seen our CB's deflecting and breaking up so many passes. I do mean during the season and not yesterday.

at what point will "fans" stop firing people and needing to insult the team after every loss?

not likely to happen, is it?

I posted when the team was winning too, I'm just saying there's less to say when they are. What are you supposed to do? Blow shine up these guy's behinds?

no, but you don't have to start making out a GOAT list. it's more like you were all happy we lost so you can get some digs in.

i swear there's a fanbase out there doing nothing more than that. what day are your meetings anyway?

yea, it's kinda like
WE SUCK WE SUCK JONES SUCKS blah blah blah
win a game
WE STILL SUCK AND WILL LOSE NEXT WEEK
win a 2nd game in a row.
WELL, we've still got a long way to go and i'm sure we'll fail here soon!
win a 3rd game in a row
SILENCE
win the division
SILENCE
win a playoff game
SILENCE
lose in the 2nd round
I TOLD YOU WE SUCK NOW BACK TO MY PLAN.

the path of the stupid isn't all that complex but it sure is frustrating.

You got to admit its a fail-safe approach though. If you claim that the team won't make it to the Superbowl every year (for whatever the reason), you will be right most often than not.

Its very smart in a very dumb way.

as far as your comment on Gurode that also falls on Romo. it seems like Romo is the only qb in the league who doesn't take the free play when teams jump offsides. he never puts his foot back down to call for the snap.

Barber is a waste of a possesion when you have better rbs in Jones and Choice. I know Barber can pass protect but so can the other 2 backs

Colombo looked awful today. I thought our tackles only struggle with the smaller speed rushers? not today they got whooped by 2 big defensive ends.

I saw tnew make several "business decisions" today as Deion would say. still a good player but seeing that disgusted me today.

Keith Brooking did a lot for this team I have no problem with Keith except that he's old.

I agree on Newman. Seemed, at least on one play, to be running away from the play trying to avoid any contact. I would like to move forward with Choice and Jones. Honestly, don't know enough to comment on Gurode or Colombo. Having said that we have some very good YOUNG players on this team at important positions. WARE, Spencer, RAT, Jenkins, Romo, Felix, Witten, Austin....I would like to have a DOMINANT linebacker and a nasty LT.
