At what point will people stop overrating the "talent" on this team?

Andre Gurode - Pro Bowl center than can't even catch the opposing team offsides and routinely lets guys come free in a manner that resembles unabated to the QB.

Marion Barber - What is this guy good at aside from celebrating every mundane play and killing momentum? He was a revelation when he began to take snaps from Julius Jones, but that ship has sailed.

Marc Columbo - He can't block an above average DE, but he sure is tough!

Terence Newman - When he isn't in the training room, he's getting toasted or talking himself up in an interview.

Keith Brooking - Did he play in a game after week 8? Is he a linebacker or a mascot?

as far as your comment on Gurode that also falls on Romo. it seems like Romo is the only qb in the league who doesn't take the free play when teams jump offsides. he never puts his foot back down to call for the snap.

Barber is a waste of a possesion when you have better rbs in Jones and Choice. I know Barber can pass protect but so can the other 2 backs

Colombo looked awful today. I thought our tackles only struggle with the smaller speed rushers? not today they got whooped by 2 big defensive ends.

I saw tnew make several "business decisions" today as Deion would say. still a good player but seeing that disgusted me today.

Keith Brooking did a lot for this team I have no problem with Keith except that he's old.

Yeah, Keith did a lot for this team, but it's a shame we need a mediocre at best linebacker to be a coach/mascot on the field to drive this team.

I agree, the talent is overated.Any time we win a couple of games in a row,the media starts putting us in the super bowl.I'm not a big Wade Phillips or Jason Garrett fan,but the players need to execute the gameplan.

Sorry, but when you are a die-hard fan like most of us, you love your team and love the players. Maybe I am guilty of overrating as you say, but oh well. I love the Cowboys and always will.

Next year we are going all the way! Guilty as charged!

Who is still overestimating Barber?

And before being hurt Colombo was solid.

Realists see the picture clearly.

Realists? Really? I love how guys like you flock to the board after a loss to rub it in and then throw out the realist claim.

:laugh2:

I for one am proud of this team. They overcame the December and January collapse. They got the playoff monkey off their back. And now they'll build on this season and come back even stronger. Seems realistic don't it? :)

I think he rushed back from injury and is not 100%

I'd keep him for 2010. Flo, I'm not so sure. I think Free can take over the LT spot as early as next year.

I'm proud of the team too. All I wanted for Christmas was a playoff win, but at the same time I know this team is not that good.

If by take over the LT spot, you mean get Romo DEBACLED (as our future HOF RB would say), Free can take over the LT spot next year.

I'd still draft a left tackle in the 1st round to hedge my bets.

Free looks like a solid RT, LT... not so much it was Allan though so it's not like he ever had a chance

The talent is there as witnessed by our 2007 record and our 4 game stretch to end the season. When this team is motivated they are world beaters. They were motivated for the last three games of the season and the first playoff game. Wade failed to have the team motivated yesterday. The Vikings were motivated and thus kicked our butts. We need a motivator as head coach. Motivation goes a long way as witnessed by the Jets postseason performance with a so-so roster. Had we hired Ryan last year when Wade should have been fired our season would not be over now!!!!:banghead:

I'll give Columbo the benefit of the doubt and say he wasn't healthy and rushe back.

Emmitt was right about Barber. You can only take a pounding like he was taking for so long.

Newman has been overrated for a couple of years already. Easily the player that is overrated the most by Cowboy fans.

Keith Brooking was just a more vocal Zach Thomas. Can anyone name a defining play for Brooking this year?

Newman was almost 25 years old when we drafted him. He was very good but his age may be slowing him down.

I just realized that Newman was 20 years old when he graduated high school. That really explains a lot.
