Emmitt Smith said he's the best running back in the SEC, considering the talent at RB in the SEC that's high praise from the man who owns MANY records.

I would love to have Emmitt 2.0 in Dallas, the kid is nice!

He's been great all season. Led the SEC in rushing with 1,621 yards and 22 TD's. He ran for almost 200 yards tonight against a great Seminoles defense. He's a stud and a workhorse back. I expect him to declare and go somewhere in the 2nd round.

Would you draft him in the 2nd round if you were Dallas? He catches the ball out of the backfield well too...

I believe Mason is great player and can be every bit as productive at the next level and also believe he will come off the board inthe 2nd as well.

I don't see Dallas going after this kid with so many question marks inthe defense. Now if Murray didn't finish the year strong as he did, my opinion would change

I agree too many other needs but when Emmitt Smith endorses a running back I listen LOL

sadly he will go too high for us to get a shot at him. That kid is a real beast. MB3 with better judgement and more common sense

I think he's way more shifty and much quicker than Barber... I don't really see that comparison honestly.

I dont think he is better than a healthy Todd Gurley, but he is a stud!

Barber was 6' and 220 lbs coming out of college. Mason isn't nearly as big and has good quickness.

I like Mason better than Gio Bernard, although I did like him too. Mason is one of the better backs we've seen in the last few years IMO, and I think he's going to be very good in the pros.

He has some power but he's shifty too. Overall, a good combo of power and quickness.

I think he is going to fall in an area where he won't be available to Dallas. He will probably be there at the 16th pick, but they won't use a first on him, and they shouldn't because the defensive line is such a huge need. But he's good enough where he will probably go in the late first round or early in the second round... which will see him taken before Dallas has its second pick. Even though it could change before the draft gets here, I don't see him lasting until the Cowboys second round pick.

Dallas could move up in the second and take him if he's there... but they won't do that either.

So, even though I really like him and think he'll be a star in the league, I don't really see any way he will be a Cowboy... and that is a shame.

Yeah well said.. Our defensive line needs far outweigh drafting a RB at 16/17

I also give him a 2nd round grade, and that means he likely isn't a cowboy, although, you never know with the way that trade downs work...we already have history with SF...perhaps they give up #16/17 for SF's low first rounder and one of their 2nds (they have theirs and KC's)?

They could do that, but again, I don't see any way in hell they'd draft a RB with that pick anyway. I really do Like Mason, but unless he falls to the second round pick, I don't think there's a shot of him ending up in Dallas.

buts that's the only real scenario where I see them taking him...they trade down in the first round, still using the SF 1st rounder on DL or OL, then with either our own 2nd rounder or the one acquired in the trade, they take Mason....just a scenario

And when Murray misses his obligatory 2-6 weeks? Not to mention Murray is coming up on a new contract soon, and with our cap poblems the logical thing to do is replace a RB rather than pay him.

I think you have to at least put sme thought into taking a RB in the 2nd if the value is right. I don't think anyone here would be too mad if we took Lacy last year in the 2nd....

if he is available in the second when we pick, i would not have a problem if we feel he is by far the best player

you get into trouble when you start to take lesser players because of need

This is how I feel, too. I really do think he'll be a good one.

I agree about Murray missing games this year (h3ll every year lol) but I'm sure his agent is in his ear reminding him that this is probably the biggest year of his NFL career coming up and that he need to be inthe best shape possible to get that big check whether its with Dallas who resigns him or not. I think Murray would have a productive year off that motivation alone. With that said i think we can get by with Murray next year, hope to draft a steal at runing back inthe later rounds.

I am a big believer that you have to have a run game to be sucessful in this league & I see what you're saying and I would have been all for Lacy inthe 2nd round. Lacy didn't drop that far and if Green Bay didnt get Lacy, I'm almost positive Pittsburgh would have who was a pick before us.
