Audibles...

So I went back and watched the Tennessee game again. I did not get an opportunity to watch the first game against Oakland.

I remember someone bringing up the fact that when any Dallas QB kills a play by saying "kill, kill, kill" it is immediately followed by Omaha and a running play of some sort...

Was this the same in the first game? and does anyone else think that they should at least throw once from this audible to at least make other Defenses a little more honest?

They did the same thing all last season. Kill Kill Kill means run. And the defense knows it.

It's been the same for at least 2+ years now. The audible "Kill Kill Kill" is always followed by an inside run either a draw or dive. This has been discussed to death it seems but it's beyond me why the coaches make it so easy to diagnose what play is about to be run. I guess they added "Omaha" in an attempt to disguise the obvious.

It worked to our advantage 1 time.

We had trips right, Felix was in, Romo yells KILL KILL KILL, and the defense starts bunching up in the box.

Well we ended up running a toss to the side of the trips and Felix had a nice little run for about 10 yards.

But yes I hate the kill, kill, kill. There has to be another way to audible to a run.

I remember it from last season also. I was cringing Friday night when it was still there... If they would just throw even a screen would be nice.

It's most likely not.

QB's use hand signals and all other kinds of stuff. Even in there cadence.

But i've yet to see Dallas pass the football after Romo yells "kill, kill, kill".

We don't, but it can't be a coincidence that whenever our QB yells out that dreaded word multiple times they inevitably run the ball inside. It's pretty comical.

when bledsoe was qb, i remember him throwing WR screens after yelling kill kill kill

In my dreams, the painfully obvious 'kill' code is only a setup for the one time that it is absolutely really 100% necessary to get a td. Here, romo yells kill to get the d to committ to a running play, suddenly fakes a handoff and throws deep for an easy td. Of course, that takes a lot of sacrificial running plays to setup only one td. And that would mean the coaches have planned this strategy all along. It's a lot to ask (especially from our coaches, in particular), but it would be pretty damn sweet.

"Kill" or "Omaha" is probably more complex than most of you all think. I would imagine each formation has it's own set of audibles that are activated by the "kill" or "Omaha" call...they probably call it in the huddle. We used to have something similar when I played. While lined up in twins as a WR, I knew that if the call was "Hot Wings" it meant outside toss blocking for me, and if it regular I-Formation, "Hot Wings" meant motion with a crack-block for off-tackle...

Just saying, it might look simple, but it's probably much more complex than we all think it is. The same word is probably used to basically let the defense know "hey, we're going to run it right at you, but you just don't know where."

I thought Kill Kill Kill was letting the team know he is changing the play?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that cringes every time I hear this on TV........

Good grief Jason.........grow an imagination.

At least we can run a screen off of it now. It isn't like crowding the box is an automatic for the defense now.

We have no way of knowing whether it was an audible to a run because a run could have been called in the first place. The audible could also tell which side they are running the ball based on Romo's presnap read.

If "Kill" was used by Bledsoe, then that was under a different offensive coordinator. I can't see a new OC (Garrett) keeping it if it was useless.

Shows JG creativity once again.... the only thing I like better are the delayed handoffs.

My guess is that there are two plays called in the huddle - "Kill" lets the offense know that they are changing to the second one - it may just be coincidence that the second one is always a run, but it was like that last year, too.

"Omaha" probably lets the offense know that they are going to run the Kill play to the opposite side.

You're right, we might not know what he's audibling FROM, but we sure as heck know what he's audibling TO.

I dont think we're claiming to know what the audible call is. I'm just saying that it's more than a coincidence that every singe time in the past 1-2 seasons Romo yells "kill", they run the ball inside.

Oddly enough, Philly and NYG are really the only teams i can remember that actually seemed to react to Romo yelling "kill".
