Choice on Irvin Show
-------------------------------

The problem I have is that this offense never looks 'comfortable' anymore.

Romo is always just beating the play clock. And he's constantly directing traffic when guys are leaving the huddle.

Choice has me worried. Why doesn't this team have all the blocking schemes down at this point in time, it's Week 16 not training camp!!!

That BS is on the coaches. This team is undisciplined and you can't convince me of anything otherwise.

I know it's a broken record but this team better hope all the talent they have came over the lack of discipline on Sunday. Because anyone thinks this team isn't going to make some dumb mistakes on Sunday you are just kidding yourself.

And that is on Jason Garrett...

It's the entire staff. Their are defensive lapses too sometimes.

The entire team seems lacadasical at times.

To me it says they want the glory without the hard work during the week.

And we know the head man in charge isn't changing how we practice.

Garrett needs to get on Romo about tempo. Sometimes Romo has his lineman sitting in there stance for hours on end. How about we get to the line and snap the ball so the defense can't settle in, especially on running plays.

You are exactly right.

I heard in on another thread that he only has a one year deal. And when Jerry talks about bringing Wade back next year, you never hear about Garrett. I really hope we take a different coaching direction on offense.

Ithink I love Tashard Choice. He sounds like a football player.
We already know he plays like one.

Trudat. I thought I was the only one that was bothered by this.

Re: the complication on offense and the constant shotgun and the reading of the defense until the last second... Sometimes I wonder if Garrett didn't study a lot of what New England did under Brady over the offseason and try to implement a lot of the same things. Because that's about the only other really top team I can think of that does all this stuff the same way.

Personally, I'd like to see us line up in simpler sets, put Romo under center, and hand off and run play action off that like the Giants and Carolina and Tennessee do. Maybe for years we didn't have the O-line for more basic football, but now we do, or should.

It just seems like RJ unnecessarily overcomplicates things and ends up outsmarting himself. Why not just run it right at people and pass off the play action?

Yeah, if there is a communication problem on a team I always look to blame the OC first.

Some of you are amazing at the steps you take to try to convince us that the SOB (son of bum) has done a good job with this squad.

Up to this point there's only one post with the HC's name in there. This time your agenda's peeking through. :D

I know I'm probably wasting my breath on this because fans are upset, and when that happens everything is not only under suspicion but often times wrong no matter which way its done.

That said, I very much like the way Romo manages the huddle and his unit on the field. Is it perfect? I'm sure its not. But I don't think Romo is directing traffic for the fun of it. I also don't see him wasting time at the LOS. I do see him taking time to assess the defense and what look they are giving.

Frankly, though its difficult to be definitive, it looks like Romo has to multi task because not everyone else is holding up their end of things. I think he does a GREAT job of getting the O set up for success before the snap of the ball. I think its one of his strengths.

Was it Tashard Choice or Michael Irvin making these comments? What specifically did Choice say?

Put me in this boat. Less shotgun and more plays from under center, and for goodness sakes, try using the PA pass more. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

When this team is on offense, nobody sees wade calling plays like he has been doing with this defense. His defense isn't making very many busted assignments as of late.

Like I said, Jason was made the Assistant Head Coach and he has full authority over the plays he calls. He is the one sitting there with the list of plays covering his face, while he signals the plays.

If Jason was as good at calling offensive plays as Wade was in regards to defense, this offense would put up like 45 points a game.

It is Jason's responsibility to run this offense, not Wade. It is Jason's respnsibility to communicate with this offense.

Hell, Kerry Collins can put up over 20 points against the Steelers, and Jason with all this talent, can't sniff how much?

the reason for hiking the ball so late is it allows the line to pick up who is coming and who they need to pick up on the blitz

Well, that's not working as evidenced by the Ravens game. It looked like a chinese fire drill.

I like that Romo takes the initiative to manage these guys as they are leaving the huddle, but I think it's because he doesn't trust that they know what the heck is going on from the play call.

You can't tell me the WR's aren't always the guys walking away from the huddle before anyone else. T.O. is barely even in the huddle.

At Week 16 this should a crisp unit, not one that looks like it hasn't practiced in weeks.

If what you believe about Romo is true about his practice habits, then it makes all the sense in the world. If he is throwing to Witten more or he isn't taking it seriously, it is showing.

Choice said they have to do a better job with the little things the coaches ask them to do during the week.

More to the story though. It's a very good listen. Check it out later on.
