8-8 is not a winning record. Anyone stating that the team will finish 8-8 or below is also saying that the team will not have a winning record. Stating that the team will finish 9-7 or above demonstates that person believes that the team will finish with a winning record. [EDIT] In essense, an 8-8 finish would be a great prediction for someone solely predicting a 7-9 finish, but it is a terrible prediction should the team finish 9-7 or above.

Granted, nothing is for certain. The team could finish 8-8. It could finish 13-3. It could finish 12-4, 11-5, 10-6 or 9-7. What will eventually happen is destined to someday become reality and that's always a totally separate topic. When someone makes a prediction, it's only what he or she believes will happen that is questionable or debatable.

One last note: making an all-inclusive prediction that a team will finish just above .500 AND at AND just below .500 basically means you don't feel that the team will not finish above .500, but that you are hedging your bets just in case they do end up with a winning record.

I need to go lie down for a while.

Whoops! My bad.: Let me try again:

Until proven otherwise, predictions of 8-8 or below were terrible to begin with.

So you think that is a lobster?

:laugh2:

It reminds me of when Bob Sturm was talking to Troy and talked about how X-players can do no wrong with the media and fans. Emmitt is the man and will always be my favorite all time Cowboy no matter what he says. I know he loves the Cowboys, was probably frustrated like many of us these past years.

(12:59)

Cowboys-Giants talk begins at 2:21min

*Giants in disarray

*Loves Cowboys defense

*Loves the running game

*Need a consistent passing game

*Talks about preseason prediction, Says his 7 win prediction was based on talent alone not if they put it together like they have now. Says they keep doing it, they could win out.

*Loves Keith Brooking

thanks for the video, i still like emmitt smith, to me he still knows the game in some ways and knows to a degree what he is talking about with having played the game

Hey, can we all just be thankful Emmitt didn't pull a hammy back-pedaling so hard?

Maybe it is just me, but I didnt get his explanaton at all.

He says his 7-9 prediction was based on talent only, not the team actually putting it together and now we could win out according to Emmitt.

So is he saying that this team has sub .500 talent???

I dont get that. Almost every anlayst says Dallas is one of the most talented teams in the league, we just never had the chemistry to play as a unit instead of just a bunch of talented individuals. So Emmitt is saying the opposite here, that we are 7-9 talent but with great chemistry???

Sounds kinda dumb to me, Emmitt should have just said "my bad" and changed the subject.

If you listen to the audio, he simply said that the Cowboys could win 7 games off talent alone with no intangibles involved. Hi explanation was quite long-winded. Check the podcast and skip towards the end.

You know the offseason was big on calling the Cowboys heartless and lacked leaders. So Emmitt's saying now they're playing with heart due to leadership from guys like Brookin.

That if you take their talent, which will get you 7 wins, and the chemistry, heart, and leadership they've been playing with, they could win out.
