Pardon the takeaway if I'm missing something in translation... but the point of that comment is simply that, if one wants to see a proven OC get the job... if... then, the fact that this is going to be one of those non-play-calling OC jobs is not going to help your want come to any fruition. That's a turn off. That's all that comment was asserting, and it's just rooted in simple, easy logic.
let's make it easier

show me this big list of pedigreed play callers or offensive assistants even AVAILABLE? the obvious ones??

because so far none have been hired that i recognize YET, so who else is free and available of these Play callings OC with pedigrees? who are they and why are they FREE? :)) ahh thats the big Q,

i hate to keep falling back on this but when Campbell was hired, his offensive/Defensive staff were relatively UNKNOWN and became well known with success. and hes doing this again.

lines are not filling their spots with these names that you speak of these big names the hot name the obvious guy they filled them with people I never heard of
That's irrelevant to the point, though, and why I was thrown off by your post... who other teams are seeking is beside the point of what experienced OCs are going to be seeking.

But whatever. It's all good.

actually, you're missing the point which is who is available and why are they? 5 Teams with full staff open jobs, that filled poached off other teams, and created more open jobs... how and why are they still out there?? if they are that solid or good, how is it they still remain?

you're missing my point is because most of the teams who lost Assistants have filled them with lesser-known names, why? it does matter if they passed on your recommendations, how are yours better and they got passed on so far?

isn't this the argument from the Schottenheimer being hired when NO other teams had him on their radar VS the allegedly better options got passed on? its the same and that is the question.

so maybe some of the ones that end up coming here that you didn't expect , will be as good or better , not just we settled for them given BS is calling plays?

what experienced OCs are going to be seeking.
who are these people who are still available and why , question has to be are they are they really better or just experienced?? you get your experience with opportunity and maybe new vs old is in the end the best choice..LOL

but i'd like to see your vast OC list ....I get your point but making mine..

This place would explode if Slowik was hired since he was just fired by Houston.
I don't think it would be the worst move...considering...Houston's front office was more meddling than Jerry. Gave Bobby the ultimatum of start throwing the ball more...even though he lost 2 of his best WRs in Diggs and Dell. Was really put in a no win situation...

To be fair, the Cowboys actually have typically employed a slightly larger staff of assistants than most other teams. Indeed, as we all know, Schotty came to the team in a role that was considered unique for any team to employ... I've sometimes wondered if that was a McCarthy brainstorm (seems most likely), or if not, who pushed that into reality.
Oh that's crap....Infact....Our coaching staff is tiny compared to other places. Hell...take a look @ Deion's staff in Colorado...He's got over 40 coaches/ Quality control guys. It's actually really impressive. Pretty sad we got one guy coaching the D-line...when DEs and DTs are 2 totally different positions.

One name I would take a look @ is Bryan Harsin. His work in the 2007 Fiesta bowl is still the standard for river boat gambler. Ben Johnson just wishes he could pull off half the stuff he's pulled.

If you were Bobby Slowik, what open OC position, or perhaps soon to be open OC position, would you consider most desirable?

If I was Bobby...I would look into Jacksonville or Tampa. Perhaps Dallas...it would just depend on how much control he could have. I just never got the impression Schotty had much input to begin with last year. And if he's gotta be the face of the franchise going forward....then I think he would be better off having a guy that's ran an offense before.

The news that Moore may get the HC job with the Saints, which means two Eagles OCs got HC positions in the last three years, Slowik’s agent has probably already called Roseman.

Worst thing this franchise did was piss off Bill Callahan....Damn he was a great coach that actually understood the little things in good line play....like O-line spilts and proper angles...hand usage....helmet placement. All the little things missing now.
