Anthony Lynn would be a great get for us. So would Leslie Frazier on defense (but it looks like that decision is already made).
Don't be surprised if Lal emerges (see earlier post). He's getting alot of applause for his work with LAC.

This place would explode if Slowik was hired since he was just fired by Houston.
One seemingly should anticipate that whatever amount of gravity McCarthy had in putting together his staff, Schotty will have something less. So, possibly unlike anytime ever before, we probably can expect hires that Joneses are personally familiar with from previous employment in DAL. Eberflus hiring of course just affirms that.

Interesting. I don't recall a lot of praise for his work here and IIRC, fans were happy to see him leave.

Really? I distinctly do... from media types, though. I have no clue what fans thought. Nor do I think fans have any legitimate insight whatsoever to position coaches' impact... their work is done mostly on practice fields, and inherently is confounded by players outcomes. And outcomes are inherently a mishmash of player talent, player cognitive capacity, and coaches' coaching.. they are only well assessed by the people who have the ability to see first hand the development a coach is able to impose on players from training camp to final game. Fans' (including muah of course) observation is too limited to be compelling.

No, fans don't know anything about the coaches, to be perfectly honest. Just saying I don't recall a lot of fanfare for Lal while he was here.

I don't recall that. Lal was receivers coach here when Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup had their 1000 yard seasons (if I remember right). I think the only reason he left was the McCarthy hire, and he wanted his own guy.

Again I can't be certain.

one guy that he seems to have worked with in alot of places is our old wr coach...sanjay lal.
don't know if he'll be oc...but i woudn't be surprised if he gets interviewed.

maybe bobby slowik...as oc...or qb coach.

he's been in this league a long time,so it should be fun to watch this staff come together.

I know....me too! I'm gonna hound those quitters!!! Lol
Folks need to give the guy a chance, we all know Jerry has his fingers in everything, but give the guy a season or two before throwing bricks at him. I don’t have any control over who gets the job but give him a chance

It's a while ago, I may be misremembering or thinking of another guy, to be honest. I'm not really sure.
I found this https://www.si.com/nfl/cowboys/news...l-discusses-his-departure-from-iconic-cowboys. Looks like he was let go by Mike, same as Colombo. You're right, he did have success with Cooper and Gallup, and even Cobb. There was a little thing at the end there about rotating Cooper out of a key game, which may have been the 'happy to see him go' thing I was remembering.

That nothing surfaced today on the OC front might point to interest in Anthony Lynn, since they can't talk to him until WAS is out.

Someone needs to make a list of trash heap coordinators or guys who haven't done the job yet that were once part of the Cowboys organization, that's where Dumb & Dumber will be picking from
It can get worse -- as in a SERIOUS double down of the Jones's philosophy (cheapness and not taking any diligence for anything above lackluster quality). Consider if we go 0-8 or 1-7 midway through the season and Schott is let go. Enter Matt Eberflus as the interim HC and Witten as OC.

move on from Solari
No offense to you personally, but just to comment on this sentiment that a number of others share with you...

How the heck would you even have a basis for opinion?

As said earlier above...

Dang, the Eberflus hiring happened quickly, so must have been part of Schotty's plan. And a lot of names brought up from Schotty's ties so it seems like there will be a staff put together relatively quickly. Eberflus has a very good resume as a LB coach and defensive coordinator, so it's hard to say he is a bad hire. My biggest concern after OC is OL coach. I don't think Solari is very good, but I will say that guys did step in due to injuries and actually played fairly decently considering the inexperience.
He has not been officially hired that is just the front runner you do realize most of those stories you see the titles are clickbait or across the meme it said hired that's just to get you to open it and find out he is absolutely one of their top choices but they have to go through the hiring process the ruining rules so they gotta do some interviews and then they can make it official if that's who they want but there's still other options out there if they don't go with him but he has not been officially hired here that is a misprint... It's more misinformation just like a lot of this in here is all speculation people are guessing their spitballing who might be here and who might not be in the end it'll be who it is...lol

For that matter, if Eberflus is hired, seems we likely should anticipate him bringing along most of his Bears staff since they're all out of jobs...

- Eric Washington, his former DC in CHI, has quite a long history in the league with successful defensive lines in Bills (2020-2023) and Panthers (2011-2019)

- Dave Borgonzi got his first NFL job with Dallas, but has been with Eberflus in IND and CHI as his LB coach
Seems reasonable to expect CH has it right, and this is just the first of at least a couple of CHI defense hires.
