If complaining about your favorite sports team wasn’t enjoyable, no one would do it. There’s nothing wrong with it. Each fan should express themselves in their own way. None of it is personal. Participation here, and any fan forum, is voluntary.
It is....so why do I bother you? This is the way, I enjoy it. You should be happy for me.

Schotty has worked with former Niners DC and former Jags ST Coordinator Nick Sorensen while he was in JAX as well as while he was in SEA.

Might be an early favorite to be his ST guy?

As noted by others, Solari could be the choice at OL coach. The two have worked together in DAL, of course, and in SEA--all three years that he served as OC there.

Whoever is the cheapest. They should just bid on the job so the Jones can go with the lowest.

Chad Morton was Schotty's RB coach all 3 years in SEA, and if Eberflus is hired as DC, then it might kinda seal the deal for him to come to Dallas where his former Chicago boss (again as RB coach) is employed.

For that matter, if Eberflus is hired, seems we likely should anticipate him bringing along most of his Bears staff since they're all out of jobs...

- Eric Washington, his former DC in CHI, has quite a long history in the league with successful defensive lines in Bills (2020-2023) and Panthers (2011-2019)

- Dave Borgonzi got his first NFL job with Dallas, but has been with Eberflus in IND and CHI as his LB coach

I imagine there are guys around from both his time in Seattle and Jax. I don't know if anyone on the staff is tight with him...I believe that Dak likes Nussmeier but thought I heard that Schotty wasn't buddies with him. There aren't many teams running the exact offense we are....not really any proteges of the Texas Coast offense. The release of Slowik is interesting. His Dad had a cup of coffee here with Jimmy, and Aikman has gushed about Slowik on many occasions. Most of the coordinator openings have been filled although if I was a coordinator I would be looking at the Detroit job. Great talent and a head coach that allows you to run your system. Pretty much guaranteed that none of the other coordinators that have interviewed anywhere and didn't get a job would come here...like Moore or Kingsbury....why would they?

I assume this also means goodbye to Zimmer, the word was he was out if Schottenheimer was in. I understand the butt hurt from him. Al Harris is gone, and I don't know if we have resigned any of the defensive coaches. None of the DCs that have interviewed for jobs is gonna take our DC job so it will be someone that either has ties to Dallas or to Schotty in some way.

As most of the peeps here, I am not hopeful with this hire but open to seeing what they do moving forward. Would be nice to see them make some moves in free agency for once to fill some holes prior to the draft, allowing them to give more with BPA than filling needs. We have been using the draft primarily and then trying to fill holes with cheap vets and the success rate of these vets has been not great.

Kerry Joseph was Eberflus' QB coach, and was an offensive assistant in 2020 in Schotty's group under Carroll.

Dang, the Eberflus hiring happened quickly, so must have been part of Schotty's plan. And a lot of names brought up from Schotty's ties so it seems like there will be a staff put together relatively quickly. Eberflus has a very good resume as a LB coach and defensive coordinator, so it's hard to say he is a bad hire. My biggest concern after OC is OL coach. I don't think Solari is very good, but I will say that guys did step in due to injuries and actually played fairly decently considering the inexperience.

Who's going to be the OC?

Very intriguing but also very open question. The HC has bounced around so much. He no doubt knows a lot of people, but are there any that stick out as OC-caliber to him? Or, was naming Witten to be OC part of the HC job requirement?

Probably the most notable name I'm finding is Darrell Bevel, who was with Schotty in JAX working under Urban Meyer for that one year. Today, Bevel is a QB coach and passing game co-ord in MIA, so a OC gig would be a promotion, of course. Bevel's been around, much like Schotty. He, too, served under Pete Carroll as OC in SEA, being there for the 7 seasons previous to Schotty's 3.

Not as likely, but plausible, he could look to former Cowboys WR coach Sanjay Lal, now in LAC with Harbaugh. The two guys worked together in IND (2017), in SEA (2020), and in JAX (2021). Prior to coming aboard with LAC, he'd been passing game coordinator in SEA under Carroll.

Given an hour to absorb this better, I'm gravitating toward Lal being a legitimate name to watch here.

Would make sense.
