Hey, we were having a simple, pleasant exchange. No need to go all completely overboard about something I didn't say or imply.

I very clearly state "plays like ...".

When what is "seen" by millions & results on the field don't match up with the stats it's because there is a broader context. I simply provided some of the context as to why the numbers can be what they are while the failures remain.

There are no assumptions. Simply looking at years of evidence.
seen by millions. and one play generalized to a season....it doesn't work that way.

I am not a dak apologist, but I also not like a few here who just pour it on. regardless of competition or level of competition, they are NFL teams and we have gone 12-5 for three seasons in a row. been to playoffs 5 times with Dak.

now, he leaves a lot to be desired in certain situations and plays. never said he was elite, but people tend to go over board.

and years of evidence say, you are wrong.

..where do people come up with this Garb? Just make a stat for who's QB helmet is heaviest?

Beating up on bad team like the giants inflates those number and the defense was generating the most turnover in the league with multiple score which inflated those numbers.
as compared to all other teams that play undefeated opponents ever week.

for the record. NFCE has not been the worst division in football the past few years. check it out for yourself. its not that hard.

Now go back & look at his chunk completions & how many are wide open or plays like the 92 yard TD to lamb against the Lions last year where its a scramble drill & defender falls down. Also for the millionth time, look at where & against who he pads those numbers.

Show me where he consistently beats tight coverage on throws with depth. You can't because he doesn't.

What I have said aren't assumptions they are the context behind the numbers.
btw, simple google. SF had 14 plays of 40 yards or more. Dallas had 7.... in fact Dak was 15th in the league for throws of 40+ yards...

sorry, to burst your bubble. but I get it biased perceptions are stronger than reality.

We are a top 10 team, which means we beat up half the league, compete with 8 teams and get our buts handed to us by the remaining 8.

Not hard to comprehend. GM Jethro likes hanging out at the rim.

I think having the guy already on the roster that they chose to keep over Coop, and also chose to make the highest paid receiver in the league might negate that argument. In other words, they already have this season's Coop on the roster.
I agree, I don't think our wrs are anywhere near our biggest problem on offense. Everyone talks about speed at the position, meanwhile you have 4.6 guys like Kupp and Puka running roughshod over the league.

What this team needs is a ground game. Since the LA Rams rolled us in the playoffs we haven't been able to stop the run or run the ball consistently. Maybe in another 5 years they'll figure it out.

Not really. I see other QBs throwing bombs downfield and wish we could do it. We just don't (or can't).
Well, the actual stats say otherwise. Like I said biased eyes. Or perception.

Purdy had 14 throws of 40+ yards last year. Dak had 7 which ranked him 15th.

20+ yards, Purdy was tops and dak was 4th in the league.

Dak was 2nd in air yards per pass completion in 2023.

Like I said perception vs. Reality.

Simple. I watch other QB's. Other QB's often make multiple throws per game that simply beat great coverage & are a key reason their teams generally come out on top. You have to look hard to find those for #4 and even when you do they probably weren't against the best opponents, in the most critical moments. He pads the stats in the ways I & a bunch of others have said. Other teams have openly talked about putting it on him to beat them. It's worked well for most of them. It's not rocket science just gotta have an open mind.
This is nonsense. Prove literally any of this, and then prove that it is the opposite for other QBs. "Because I said so" doesn't count. You can't do it. You have no argument.

You and a bunch of others speak in unprovable platitudes and then just dismiss any data that proves you wrong, because you are not objective.

Is that a stat that says a completion went for 40+ yards or the ball traveled 40+ yards from the LOS. Like I mentioned earlier, the Lamb TD was 65 yards but was actually a 15-yard throw.
It's air yard attempts - completion not balls that were completed. It isn't a number that means much. This is just an ADOT conversation.

Dak was 13th in average intented air yards (completion irrelevant), 2nd in the league in air yards before completion, and 8th in air yards per completion (for context, Mahomes was 30 and Burrow 31) https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/passing_advanced.htm

We agree to disagree that's ok. I don't consider it piling on, just unraveling the difference between measurables & results.

Interesting. So if you are a screen-throwing team, you aren't going to rate high on this list even if you chuck it down the field 3 or 4 times a game and complete maybe 2 of them versus someone who never throws uber-deep but also doesn't utilize the screen nearly as much and keeps it mid-range.

I guess yea. If you go by average air depth depth by attempt, going 1/4 for 20 yards is the same as going 4/4 for 5 yards - but average air yards per completion is very different. It can speak to aggression when it's combined with yards past the sticks measurements and tight-window throws, but on it's own ADOT is a lot about system and defensive deployment (i.e. Pat Mahomes faces a lot of cover 2, leading to checkdowns).

It's not really a great measure of how good a deep passer a QB is though. That would be CPOE by yardage, but that isn't explicitly tracked anywhere to my knowledge.

games are on every week. every week you can watch other QB's making throws Dak can't make at all or very rarely.

There is a reason the networks never show highlites of Dak's incredible throws nor anyone associated with the sport never throw out his name when they are taking about the guys who can tilt the field in their teams favor.
