yet, in 23 he was 6th in YPA and 4th in AYPA, in 21 he was 10th in YPA, and 7th in AYPA...

so not dink and dunk.

you tend to make assumptions that fit your conclusion you have reached.

btw, I am not defending Dak. just pointing out the false assumptions people tend to make.
Now go back & look at his chunk completions & how many are wide open or plays like the 92 yard TD to lamb against the Lions last year where its a scramble drill & defender falls down. Also for the millionth time, look at where & against who he pads those numbers.

Show me where he consistently beats tight coverage on throws with depth. You can't because he doesn't.

What I have said aren't assumptions they are the context behind the numbers.

This is exactly what I meant about other teams making it easy on their QB while we just ask Dak to be superman and win with no separation. Get me a real coordinator like the Saints have.
Hopefully Ferguson will help out with those numbers going forward.

The problem is Jerry has admitted time and time again that if he pays his top guys he expects them to elevate the rest of the team and wont go out and spend to bring in better players. It's not a Dak issue, its a Dak contract issue combined with an owner/gm who builds his roster in the most conservative way.
More evidence that the offensive schemes suck. We tried to tell you

Maybe the McCarthy system works if you don't have to dumb it down to play to the QBs physical and mental limitations.

But don't worry, you'll get your wish in the end. With the bag Jerry gave Dak, we're stuck with him. McCarthy will be the next sacrifice on Daks altar and there will be a new coach next year for you guys to blame for Daks shortcomings
His scheme wasn’t good enough for A Rodgers not to complain about it. He hated it. The scheme sucks. That doesn’t mean the QB is good. They’re separate topics.

So you are saying one 92 yard play is the main reason. Behind a stat that ranks him top 10? You took a single play and generalized it.

Also again you are assuming no other QB had a similar play..

Consistency? 500+ passes in a season...look through all the stats over several years.

Vs.

One single play.

You are an amateur.

Again, not defending Dak just pointing out facts vs. Assumptions

Eh, don't know about that. For example, the 65-yard CeeDee touchdown did wonders for his YPA but was actually a 15-yard pass (25 air yards) that CeeDee took to the house from a blown tackle. The eye test shows us that he's not pushing the ball way down field like what Carr did to us Sunday.

Not sure I follow, what does that have to do with the offensive scheme?
This is why you don’t see a problem. The schemes purpose is to provide an advantage to the offense. In the run game and in the pass game. Players are schemes open by good play designers. It’s not by luck. It’s not all talent either.

hmm, 65% this year. 69% last year.... is the accuracy bad?

The post is about the first two games.

Dak’a accuracy has been less than his normal so far this season. Likely because it’s still early and a lot of offenses are struggling.

Lmao.

In 2023, Dak led the league in CPAE (completion % above expected). Dak ranked 3rd in CAY (completed average air yards).

Here is Dak leading the league in 3rd-down EPA, when windows are tight.

Here is Dak being the best downfield passer in the league the second half of last year

Here is Dak leading the league in vertical touchdown passes

Here's just a tiny little sample against Philly last year

Here's just a bunch of tight window throws and Dak leading the league in throwing to them ALL THE WAY BACK IN 2018

I know you'll just say "nitpicking stats blah blah blah," but here's all the legwork. Now please go show all this for all the other quarterbacks you think do it better. I'll wait.

I'm open to the idea of scheme issues, but I need someone to tell me what they want to see different than what the Cowboys are currently doing.

Dak is 5th from the bottom in the NFL right now in time to throw at just 2.58 seconds. How open to do we expect receivers to get when the ball is being forced out that quick? You can't even run a full route tree if you're not getting 3 seconds to throw the football. You can leave a back in to block or keep your Y in to block, but now you have a worse receiver to coverage ratio which is going to lower separation numbers again. Sean McVay and Andy Reid are two of the best offensive minds in the game, but their receivers are on par with the Cowboys in this chart, so why arent they getting separation?

I'm more than happy to have an open minded Xs and Os talk about scheme and what changes could be made, I get geeked out over that stuff, but give me something the Cowboys can do to provide an advantage to their players from a schematic standpoint. I just need something to go off of over than we need change for the sake of change.

Hey, we were having a simple, pleasant exchange. No need to go all completely overboard about something I didn't say or imply.

I very clearly state "plays like ...".

When what is "seen" by millions & results on the field don't match up with the stats it's because there is a broader context. I simply provided some of the context as to why the numbers can be what they are while the failures remain.

There are no assumptions. Simply looking at years of evidence.

Appreciate the effort but it won't change the haters minds because they have a narrative and will always move the goalposts or delete posts and never own what they say. In the end it really doesn't matter if you think Dak is good or bad the scheme sucks.

I wonder why our D is dominant with a lead and the other team can't run the ball?

Could it possible be the same reason our offense struggles when we can't run the ball and our D gives up 5 TD's in a row?

I'm not advocating for this scheme but some of yall make zero sense.

The coach and scheme, qb, wrs, rb and oline can't all SUCK and we still manage a top 3 offense year in and year out.

It doesnt work that way. This may not be you, but there are several who somehow adhere to this philosophy everyone sucks.

Simple. I watch other QB's. Other QB's often make multiple throws per game that simply beat great coverage & are a key reason their teams generally come out on top. You have to look hard to find those for #4 and even when you do they probably weren't against the best opponents, in the most critical moments. He pads the stats in the ways I & a bunch of others have said. Other teams have openly talked about putting it on him to beat them. It's worked well for most of them. It's not rocket science just gotta have an open mind.
