If so, maybe Jerry can throw some money at him....he can play Center and Guard.

That's 8 right there... So who you gonna bring in? A guy that is only a center? I don't think so... and that's why either Berger or Proctor will become the 9th man and probably the backup center/guard.

And you're not only the self-styled "master of the obvious," you're one of the many posters on this site whom I hold in high regard. That said, where is Rivera? He's not on your list of the top eight, but despite his most recent surgery, I haven't heard that the Cowboys are trading/cutting him or that he's retiring. Is this something obvious I'm missing? (By the way, I'm not trying to say that his performance thus far as a Cowboy merits him a position without competition this season, just that I haven't heard anything definitive about his future from official sources.)
MichaelWinicki;1490809 said:No whistling here. I trust the coaching staff and the brain trust. If we go into the season with Berger/Proctor/Free as the back-up center then I'm fine with that.
The fact is you can't have pro-bowlers backing up pro-bowlers at every position-- there will be shortfalls here and there. I doubt you'll see more than 9 o-lineman carried on the active roster...

He'll either retire or the Cowboys will release him.
And judging by the fact that he hasn't announced his retirement, it looks like he's taking the low road, forcing Dallas to cut him so he still gets paid.
So much for the guy who offered to give his bonus money back.....
FuzzyLumpkins;1491360 said:If the guy thinks he can still play and it doesnt effect our cap situation one way or another by keeping him then I dont see why keeping him around is sucha bad idea.
Lets see what he can do. If hes bad we can just cut him but if hes good then he has value as a backup.

maybe he m,akes the team as back up center. I think He was a pretty good player in college...
