Has to be Bass, no?

Is it just me or does it seem as if the OL is playing better with Martin out?

The best five for next year (been posted already by another) is…

Smith-Bass-Beebe-Hoffman-Guyton

Richards as the swing. I doubt they move on from Steele though, which leaves Smith inside and Guyton at LT.

Been saying since Pre-season that our best OL configuration was likely:

Smith-Beebe-Hoffman-Martin-Guyton
with Steele as the swing

I based this on the "perceived" quality of the player and their experience at a given position. I don't understand why we continue to draft OL who have played one position most of their lives and decide to move them to another position. The obvious example is Guyton. He's played RT, so we move him to LT. Beebe was a Guard, so we move him to Center. etc, etc...

However:

1. Martin is hurt, not playing well, and reportedly leaving this off-season.
2. Beebe at Center is better than I expected.
3. Bass and Hoffman have played surprisingly well at Guard.
4. Richards has played decently too.
5. Steele hasn't been good and is paid WAY too much to be the swing. Time to move on?

That leave me to think that our best alignment now is:

Smith-Bass-Beebe-Hoffman-Guyton
with Richards as the Swing

Likely LOL more like Hindsight... Bass and Hoffman being so ahead of schedule surprisingly both physical they don't need to be all pros or even pro bowlers these guys can play you could work with that so with Martin gone there'll be a lot of scenarios to switch people around but it needs to be done in training camp this was really dumb especially after the bye week to not have Rico the starter have a better line up in front of them and would have made this entire line better and maybe Prescott would have got hurt who knows??!!

Smith-Bass-Beebe-Hoffman-Guyton with Richards as the Swing and or Steele pay cut stays .. Or

Smith-Bass-Hoffman-Beebee-Guyton/steele
with Richards as the Swing

really out there

Richards-Smith-Beebe-Hoffman-Guyton/steele
with Steele/guyton as the Swing T and Bass the swing G..

so lots of options with NO NEED to draft anther Linemen..fill many holes no qb or OL needed this draft,

Boy this is a really tough question. I don't think any of them has played poorly, and yet none of them has distanced himself from the others. Richards didn't get as much playing time as Hoffman and Bass but I like what he did when he was in there considering he has little game experience. I like Hoffman's style of play. That guy is an overachiever and plays with a chip on his shoulder. I love that about him. Bass has been steady except for the first game he came in.

Right now I would say Hoffman, but it is by a razor thin margin and could change at the next game. But Richards playing left tackle has got to get some votes too considering the position he played.

You don't know me.

could be good starters. Good enough for a team wanting to win a SB is a whole other matter.

It’s not coincidence that when we had Guyton, Bass, Bebe, Hoffman, and Steele together the line played better. Then the next week they inserted Smith. Those guys had the most practice reps together. Line play is not about one individual it’s how they play as a unit. Martin missed so much time. His timing is off.

I'll take your word for it I'm not going back but I can tell you this ever since I watched bass and Hoffman play together the first time and then a couple spot dirty stuff I was saying these guys are better than anybody was giving them credit for, no need to draft offensive lineman they're all right here.... Many were saying we're gonna have to retool or rebuild this line and I'm saying it's all right here

Umm yes but bpa with Priority at RB, WR, DT, and Pass rusher. So BPA in all positions outside of OL, QB and DBs unless someone generational and dynamic maybe a safety is there etc
Right.

This might be a question for another thread but, how far is this team talent wise?

I think that a dynamic RB and a wall of a DT would make a big difference. What else is needed?

Definetely more pass rush. Some of the youngsters like Overshown and Liafau and Kneeland will be big contributors next year.

true #2 WR unless they go FA Vet like Diggs(might give a play with Bro discount coming off an injury..) or someone and continue waiting on Tolbert to get better,..
