BAD Defense with 8 seconds to go!

Didn't read the whole thread, but.................
This very same thing happened, on the very same side, with the very same absent LB. Alge Crumpler was just as wide open and Mexico didn't see him. Would of been a TD for the Falcons.

I remember that play. I couldn't believe how open Crumpler was. We've got the mental mistake constantly occurring on defense. These issues must be fixed if we are to smell amything close to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I couldn't "not see" Crumpler if I tried. He's a rather large man, Yeah?

They've been playing bad defense for a lot longer than eight seconds.

True. It seems we've come to accept it and adopted the "it is what it is" viewpoint in the defense. That's an awful gigantic load to put on Romo's shoulders week in and week out. I'm sure for once he would like to stroll onto the field for the first time with the score 0-0 instead of 0-7. Ya know?

Take a screen shot of that play right before the pass. All they need is about 10-15 yards to get in field goal range. Look how many defenders are covering that area (10-15 yards from LOS). Then look who is emerging into that area close to the left sideline. Then look who comes into frame too late.

For those that don't have the video, the last one is .... BRADIE JAMES!

Based on that picture we are lucky that they didn't get into the end zone on us. That drive before the half when we had just scored to get it to 10-7 was a JOKE!

The big problem on this play is the defensive call. Prevent in a situation where the offense clearly needs 10 yards? It was a horrible call by Zimmer. Expecting a hail mary in that situation shows an absolute basic lack of understanding of football, especially when facing a kicker like Akers. James has sucked since he re-upped, and maybe he blew his assignment. But he isn't going to do a good job covering a WR on the outside very often anyway. He just made it easier for them.

It was a hack call by our hack DC, who, like most of our staff, doesn't understand situations or what the clock dictates a team is going to do. Just as Parcells' clock management has been abyssmal since he came here.
