I'm saying that they played an unusually light game on defense, and that that can only be attributed to some kind of calculated decision by their coaching staff. They made few efforts to aggressively attack our offense despite the fact that we were dominating time of possession and they desperately needed to get their offense on the field. At a time during a big game where you'd fully expect and anticipate their defense to attack they rarely did so.
Look the Eagles rolling over to get some strategic advantage in a third game is totally absurd. What's are you going to posit next - that Jeffrey Dahmer was a vegetarian.
I think the Eagles employed the defensive coverage they did because they did not have the blitzing success in the first game and they believed they could still exert pressure on Romo and force him into throwing ill advised passes.
If the Eagles defense was throttling down intentionally then why was Trotter making all out effort plays. Why did they bother even sacking Tony Romo and risking a penalty with that cheap shot late in the game. Why did they break up passes and run blitz into our backfield causing loss of yardage.
Why didn't they simply cause themselves more penalties on critical Cowboys drives. Why did they stop us from scoring touchdowns and limiting us to field goals and making us punt the ball during the course of the game.
Why did they stop us on punt returns. Why did their offense not hold back. Do you think McNabb would really tank the game on purpose and invite further scorn and ridicule. Did their tight end Brent Celek not get the memo. Don't you think that their offense would be at the throat of the defense if they didn't play all out. Don't you think we would be reading about the furor on the Eagles offense over the tanking of the game.
How about we had a good game plan on both sides of the ball and our players executed in dominating fashion. To think otherwise would be an insult to the Cowboys and even to those Eagles players.
