You dont think Jalen Thompson can do really well in that spot?Disagree. We don’t have the perfect nickel player right now, the most important position on D. We have options but none of them are ideal. Give me Downs
not as much as you think. Some teams will look at Bains arm length and say pass. Some teams will look at Downs and say hes a great player, but we dont value safety. we can pick up a safety day 2 that can get the job done. Bailey and Reese are the only 2 player i see us having no shot at besides Mendoza. Even Styles moving up as a consensus top 5 player after his combine is silly.Literally a dream scenario, either or
really foolish post because the very best pass rush can only do so much. Show me how many teams that had the most sacks ended up winning the SB that year.Bain because DB's aren't needed for defending pases thrown from horizontal QB's
Bain please but Downs alright too. I believe this is a high percentage deal. So @20 depending on which falls K McDonald or A TerrellCertainly possible both of these guys could be there at 12. If you stick and pick, who do you take?? I keep going back and forth. Downs is probably higher on our board but damn Bain is a beast.

Bain is a monster. I can't believe his intuitionCertainly possible both of these guys could be there at 12. If you stick and pick, who do you take?? I keep going back and forth. Downs is probably higher on our board but damn Bain is a beast.
Yeah Downs is just too good. Probably the best football player in this draft. I would rather have Brian Dawkins than Brandon Graham. They both remind me of those two Eagles with their floors. If there are zero injury concerns I am taking Downs.
Comfortably higher graded and I view more as a DB than S only so positional value does not apply for me.
It's not about the most sacks: When a QB is harassed on every passing play, there's trouble. See the laterst SB; Drake Maye was harassed all day, anybody watching could tell how this was going to end after the 1st quarter; well, I could at least.really foolish post because the very best pass rush can only do so much. Show me how many teams that had the most sacks ended up winning the SB that year.
This is the best argument for Bain and I’m in the Downs campDuring the Deion years, we won 1 SB, barely. Sanders didn't play until game 9 when we were already 7-1 without him. After that year, no pass rush = the end of the Cowboys success for 30 years and counting. There have been flickers of a great pass rush but the front office just hasn't got it right. Jerry will get a few pieces right, i.e. Greg Ellis, DeMarcus Ware, Rolando McClain, Micah Parsons, but oppenents can scheme around a single great/good pass-rusher. We need a front 7; a menacing front 7. A serviceable defensive backfield will look like superstars.
Tell me how often this has been the difference in the Super Bowl? It's not about the most sacks: When a QB is harassed on every passing play, there's trouble. See the laterst SB; Drake Maye was harassed all day, anybody watching could tell how this was going to end after the 1st quarter; well, I could at least.
It's the same argument for a great OL. If the QB can sit in the pocket and has time to make it through 8 reads, I don't care how good your secondary is, they're getting torched. If the OL sucks, no running and no passing; better invest in a great punter and place kicker. This is the best argument for Bain and I’m in the Downs camp
look no further than the dynamic duo of Daron Bland and Trevon Diggs. They had int's falling out their a**'s until Michah took the pass rush with him to Green Bay. Now Diggs is gone and Bland is..well...bland.Tell me how often this has been the difference in the Super Bowl?
bluntly speaking outside of those like the Bears in 85 it does not happen often
if you do not have the horses in the secondary, all the thoroughbreds on the DL or OLB are not going to get it done.
