Das, if you think of anything new to discuss then have at it. It will be welcome here.

DC.com was like the witch in the Wizard of Oz. "I'm melting, I'm melting".

there were hints of all type of new plays - rpo based, spread smash etc.
these plays were supposed to play to the strength of the personnel including dak.

what did we get?
more of the same with minimal dressing.
they were not even serious with the rpo stuff.

all receivers running curl patterns.
no crossing routes or bunch plays
what gives???
What gives you ask? Terrible coaching that's what

Hey man! It's hard to curtail threads complaining about the offense when the offense stinking it up is front and center amongst our onfield problems.

it is not just chemistry.
they r not running new plays that were hinted at.
Tavon was supposed to get 1-2 dozen touches a game, maybe they meant for the season?

Tavon is averaging 11+yds a carry, but only has 1 carry in each game. Our OL has the highest average of yds before contact, but we run Zeke less than we ever have before. RPOs worked and we stop or don't continue to use them. Is the staff this dumb or our we intentionally tanking?

play calling is so bad it feels like tanking

There’s an issue with the passing game and I believe that the coaches are afraid to insert more.
  • Perhaps they aren’t mastering some basic plays so they feel opening it up will be inviting disaster.
  • Maybe the coaches are dumb
  • Maybe the coaches are stubborn
  • Maybe the players aren’t executing the basic plays, and if they did execute the plays the play calling would look awesome

This is just an Example:
It’s not just about running a fly route or what have you it’s about tendencies and nuances of the game. Based on how the defender reacts sometimes a receiver will break inside, outside, left, right, up, down, etc.

The QB normally throws the ball before the receiver makes his move if he has “Chemistry” with his receiver like Beasley, his security blanket. He trusts and knows what Beasley is going to do, he also had chemistry with Butler.

He’s starting to have confidence in Thompson but it takes time for this to carry over to the rest.

The main thing is that Dak needs to work it out and get his troops on his page or the suckfest will continue...

I don't have a unique thread idea at the moment and that's why you don't see me starting threads. That's my whole point, if you don't have a unique idea, then throw your opinion in one of 100 pre-existing threads.

Even when someone does have a unique thread idea, it gets buried because a handful of people shortly after will decide that there version of "we suck and I don't like it" is important and unique enough to warrant a new thread.

They call an inordinate high numbers of comebacks and curls. They develop slow and don't really give much opportunity for YAC and we haven't had much success running them. The defenders are sitting on those routes, and it looks like they might be baiting a throw on some of those. The slants, drags and shallow crosses have shown some success, but don't get called much. I'm leaning towards stubborn. Way too often on 3rd downs our players/play calling is right at the sticks, not many routes beyond them. Some of the playcalling isn't bad, we've had some plays there, but sometimes Dak misses, someone drops it, or pressure gets there.

Soap operas have different names. But the plots are all the same.

Red and Linehan value comfort over all else, at this point I think even over the chance of more success.

I can think of no other explanation

Or maybe they've come to the conclusion that they're limited with the plays they can call because of the offense. Other than Zeke, they don't have much to work with right now.

austin has been successful stats-wise but barely gets in to play.
they barely have wrs run any slants or crossing patterns.
i dont even remember any bunch wr formations.
they have twill, beas and even the other wr from last year and that was in the playbook last year

I'm trying my hardest here not to point the finger at a certain QB that I wont name who has regressed. The playbook has been dumbed down for that certain QB and we still have no TE to really speak of.

And if twill and beas are our best WR's. We're in trouble.

I agree with you that Austin needs to play more.

Beasley did catch 2 passes on crossing routes last week

Here's a thought for the (nonstaff) wannabe mods who think they can get a couple of likes for being the thread police. If you don't want to read it, don't click on it. Unless your somehow providing the bandwidth or paying the energy bill for the server use, SHUT UP! Go read something else, who's forcing you to click! ??
