Bait and switch

I'm trying my hardest here not to point the finger at a certain QB that I wont name who has regressed. The playbook has been dumbed down for that certain QB and we still have no TE to really speak of.

And if twill and beas are our best WR's. We're in trouble.

I agree with you that Austin needs to play more.

though dak is better throwing to slants and crossing patterns ...
on the 11 sacks video, barely any wr ran crossing patterns or slants
instead they were routes that seem to take longer to develop.
in fact, it was eerily lacking in any pattern that cross from the left side to the right side or vice versa
it was as if there was some monster would come out and eat the wr if he dared cross over or even got near the middle.

The way I see it is that It's a combination of everything.
Some of it's on the coaches. Some of it's on the QB and some of it is just the lack of talent on offense now. Save Zeke.
Right now, they're all just trying to polish one big offensive turd.

there were hints of all type of new plays - rpo based, spread smash etc.
these plays were supposed to play to the strength of the personnel including dak.

what did we get?
more of the same with minimal dressing.
they were not even serious with the rpo stuff.

all receivers running curl patterns.
no crossing routes or bunch plays
what gives???

Linnehan giveth hints and Linnehan taketh away in reality

austin has been successful stats-wise but barely gets in to play.
they barely have wrs run any slants or crossing patterns.
i dont even remember any bunch wr formations.
they have twill, beas and even the other wr from last year and that was in the playbook last year
Last week we only had a player in motion on 3 plays. 2 of those plays were catches by Beasley on slants for 16 and 18 yards.

Very small sample size, but at this point if something works, keep doing it fer cryin' out loud!

This is the type of routes we run the most, slow developing 3-4 WRs running down the field to a defender and stopping, notice Dak is under heavy pressure. No one is open unless he has time to scramble and someone uncovers. No combo routes, no cross, no imagination. Pass plays don't get much easier to defend than this

this play basically had no chance.
linehan sits up in the booth and this should be bloody obvious.
are they really tanking or is he that ******** stupid?

Hopefully Linehan was watching the Rams Thursday night and drew out some new plays. Unfortunately we don't have a QB to make those throws. :(

Speaking of them running curls, during the Romo life he said the ot game vs 9ers all curls was called and he told Jesse to run something else

I saw that. He said basically his ribs were hurting and he wanted to hurry up and win the game. Then Mr 4th and Long takes it all the way to the one yard line..

I'm still waiting on this "new look" offense. Maybe they're still in pre-season mode or something.
They spent very little time together in camp and it pretty much shows. They got spooked by the Frederick injury and that cost Precott the dress rehearsal game which might have helped a little bit to work out the kinks.

The coaches have to make sure Dak has 2-3 dump off options for that sake of even having a offense without those dump offs we might as well punt on 3rd down

There’s an issue with the passing game and I believe that the coaches are afraid to insert more.
  • Perhaps they aren’t mastering some basic plays so they feel opening it up will be inviting disaster.
  • Maybe the coaches are dumb
  • Maybe the coaches are stubborn
  • Maybe the players aren’t executing the basic plays, and if they did execute the plays the play calling would look awesome

Agreed! No matter what the coaches short comings might be they know better than anyone else what they have to work with when it comes to our QB who's limited talent level produces the simplest of offenses....

a slant is a good option for dak almost on all passing downs.
it was barely run.
someone mentioned motion was barely used last game.
no hurry up either
those r the kind of things that get dak in a groove and play better.
instead it is like we are tanking.
it is too early to tank, even for me!!!

Or maybe they've come to the conclusion that they're limited with the plays they can call because of the offense. Other than Zeke, they don't have much to work with right now.

Yep much like driving a Benz or a Smart Car.....cannot expect the same performance and options from both ........

I said it in another post i think Dak has linehan hostage with the play calling
