Baker Mayfield

Loved that TD pass to tie the game st 38 when moving to his left . That is not an easy throw to make

Kenny Hill made a similar remarkable throw in TCUs Bowl Game. Incredible play. Wouldn't mind bringing him in as a late round pick or undrafted.

I thought he played well, was under a lot of pressure but he's obviously a competitor.

Either way, Roquan Smith is the guy I want.

I'm sure out evaluators will decide he's too small or some other such nonsense. Either that or he'll go at 18, because we just had to have that victory over the Eagles.

Offense played way too conservative at the end. Playing not to lose is JG 101.

Agreed. I’m waiting for SEA to snipe him ahead of us.

That was a beauty but also the only "NFL quality" throw he made all game.

By that I mean early when OU was whooping head his OL was flat dominant. He had all day in a clean pocket.
Later when Kirby said yea forget that nonsense and every play a stunt or blitz he struggled a lot.

Part of the equation with Baker is his OL was dominant all year and unlike a lot of guys he wasn't asked to carry the team.

How many Round 1 picks at QB have teams that are top in rushing yards per game without the QB rushing factored in?

I saw lots of pluses and lots of minuses and none had to do with him being 6 foot flat.
The 4 yard throws on 3rd down and 8+ just don't work in the NFL.
There weren't enough NFL caliber throws for my liking in a top prospect. How many 12-15 yard outs? Slants? Fades?
The one deep ball to Lamb was great and that rolling throw was superb.
Going to be interesting once scouts dissect his film IMHO.

One thing I will defend him for endlessly is toughness. He shook off Roquan Smith on one play and took some big hits all night but kept coming.

Smith was terrible in the first half but all-world in the second.
His size at the combine will likely determine how high he goes. We know he will run plenty fast.
DAL issue is he may can only play Will here and well that's Sean Lee.
I'm not moving Less back to Mike where he'd get even more beaten up so I'm not crying if Roquan goes elsewhere.

There will be lots of good players at 19 that can help us.

Lee will be 32 to start the season, I think it's okay.

Anyone who watched the games this year saw this defense with Lee versus without Lee.
I'm doing everything I can to keep Lee on the field because he tells the other 10 defenders what play is coming.

I don't have season ending stats but at one point we averaged allowing 35 PPG without Lee and 18 PPG with.
Amateur media scouts who are mostly clueless have sold people on Roquan Smith but it's very early in the process and Anthony Hitchens is probably a better player.
What does Hitchens cost? That's question 1 and will be answered before the draft.

Jaylon Smith had to play his way back into any semblance of a football player and at times looked flat awful but holds promise for the future and flashed in limited snaps a physical presence we lack otherwise.
He needs Lee to tell him where to go though.

Hitchens can play all 3 LB spots and is a really good player.
Losing him and Lee was just awful.
Damien Wilson wasn't ready for that load and Jaylon was definitely not ready to play every snap.
Durant has been in semi-retirement for 2 years and is not the same guy who was here before.

Don’t ever underrate a great moral victory over the Eagles. It’s all part of the process.

Clap, clap.

I'm not even sure what you're arguing against, I don't disagree with you.

Are you arguing against drafting a LB early? Even if Lee, Jaylon and Hitch all come back, that shouldn't keep us from adding a talented LB early. The fact that our defense goes to crap when Lee is hurt/out seems like a strange reason to avoid drafting a potential replacement.

I'm not trying to convince you to like Roquan Smith, I'm saying I like him.

Smith had some great plays in the 2nd half no doubt, 1st half he was pretty much dominated by the OU offensive linemen. I said it earlier that I would prefer someone with more size, is ther no one else out ther comparable? Will be interesting seeing Smith vs Alabama Monday night.

I'm not saying he's the be-all, end-all at the position and it's January.

That said, I liked Deion Jones a lot last year, and Telvin Smith in 2014 and both those guys got bagged on for being "undersized" "tweeners" with "no position". Both have turned out to be pretty good, and they make plays.

I think our entire team needs an infusion of speed.

Baker Mayfield is a good QB. IMO, he has about half the talent of Johnny Manziel and about a quarter of Patrick Mahomes. If Dallas wants a QB in the first round, see if their first and something else might get Mahomes from KC.

Would love Mahomes but that ain't happening, Smith will be the one to leave...unless he wins a SB or something.

I watched Mayfield's passing plays against Ohio State and I was impressed with how quickly he made decisions and his throws were accurate. He is not a conventional pocket passer though and reminds me of Brett Favre in his young days.

HELL no

Dude's Johnny Manziel without the wheels. Undersized spread QB in a conference that doesn't play defense with attitude issues.

Drafting a QB in the first 3 rounds would be irresponsible. Therefore, I expect we will do it. Its a shame we will have to dig through the scraps in the bottom rounds to get need players OT,OG, DT, WR
