Baker Mayfield

I have a feeling he is going to be a big bust. Fun loving gun slinger College QB who will bust in the NFL.

I don't get the Drew Brees do what ever it takes mentality with him..I see the I can do what I want and I am a pampered start type guy with mayfield.

Very well could be wrong.

I saw Baker play his first collegiate game live and have seen him no less than 20 times total.

Baker runs around with the ball in one arm trying to find a WR which has led to a number of fumbles in his career.
He has tremendous faith in his OL and will extend plays forever.
That doesn't generally work in the NFL.
He plays very similar to Tony Romo with a gunslinger mentality that most NFL coaches can't handle.

Where he goes will be very important.

He would be a nice fit for the Saints as a back up for Brees taking over that offense in a season or two.
The accurate passer thing is very overblown.
Look at the top 10 list. Not many guys on it that did a thing in the NFL.
Baker has run a system that is a mix of quick/short passes and fake/play action pass stuff that is well down the field.
He doesn't sit back in the pocket and hit intermediate routes.

But Baker is tough as nails, will take hits to extend plays and is far more Tony Romo than Johnny Manziel on the field as his 3 yards per carry rushing average will attest.
He obviously has to mature.
NFL QBs can not give defenses more reason to hit them.
If he plays anything similar to Romo then sign me up please, exactly what this team needs is a freeking Gunslinger that can air it out up and down the field all day long.

Thanks for clarifying. Odd that my analysis almost matches up with yours to the letter but our opinions differ. I think his intangibles set him apart from Rosen and Darnold but your opinion is certainly valid and worth considering.

I'm not talking off-field, but on the field, Mayfield is that Manziel-at-his-best. to me. Crazy talented, gambles a lot, and makes plays he shouldn't be able to.

If he's on the board I take him.
I'd move up and get him personally, depending on what he does in the play off game Monday, and the combine. If you want a great QB, you have to go get him. (edit) Let me do my research on him before I comment further, I've gotta be right about the QB position.

He has the best "IT" factor of all these guys by a million miles.

And I think in the right offense he could flourish.

But he's also so like Romo that he's gonna struggle to be patient and consistent, if players around him aren't up to par.
I think he a round 2 guy but every QB is overdrafted so that's nothing new.

He was the best college QB by a mile and it wouldn't surprise me for him to have success in the league.
But I wouldn't be surprised if he floundered either picking up some injuries and turning it over too much.

Mayfeild is no where near the raw athlete Manziel was before the drugs or whatever.
Manziel had the quickness and agility of a DB.
Mayfield is way more accurate than Manziel ever was.
But they do both have that never let a play die mentality and that generally works less and less as the players around you get better.

Mayfield is a guy teammates love and he plays with a swagger that Manziel carried too.

I haven't watched tape. But I'm always skeptical of quarterbacks who played at powerhouse schools who aren't at the very top of the draft.

I'm all for making a play for Mayfield, at least the kid can throw the ball down the field. I really think we need a QB stat.

He’s a jack ***..

Jack *** QBs aren’t good nfl QBs.
Just because he planted a flag when he got excited after a big win he's a jack***? Just because he got fired up during a game when the COACHES of the opposing team were mouthing him and he grabbed his crotch he's a jack***? Come on, give me a break. If he played for your team and did something like that you would be screaming, you go Baker!!!

He’d be a consensus top five pick if he were three inches taller.

I think he’s in play as early as four to CLE.
