Thats all predicated on them adding at least 3 new starters in FA. I will believe it when I see it.

Sitting at 12th overall, the Cowboys have been rumored to like Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan, Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka, and Missouri WR Luther Burden III. One guy we may need to get on our radar is Texas WR Matthew Golden.

Golden had one of the more impressive showings at the NFL Scouting Combine, posting a 4.29 40-yard dash and a 1.49 10-yard split. Golden was as smooth as it comes on film at Texas, but the high-end athleticism was something that was often questioned. After posting such impressive numbers, plenty of teams and scouts will be heading back to the tape to confirm what the testing showed in Indianapolis.

WR Isaiah Bond - Texas​

Speaking of speed, Bond’s combine performance may contain a dark cloud in the form of failing to “walk the walk” after proclaiming he would break the 40-yard dash record. While that didn’t go according to plan, the Longhorn receiver is still fast and his 4.39 proved it. Bond was impressive during drills showing sharp breaks, quick acceleration, and excellent hands.

The disappointment of Jalen Tolbert and uncertainty of Jonathan Mingo should cause the Cowboys to take the receiver position seriously and find someone to partner with CeeDee Lamb. Bond has the skillset to be a fun weapon in space and give the Cowboys some much needed speed at receiver.

A name to keep an eye on is Jihaad Campbell from Alabama.

Campbell had a fantastic combine, measuring in above the 50th percentile for height, arm length and hand size among off-ball linebackers. He then clocked a 4.52-second 40-yard dash and a 1.52-second 10-yard split and hit 10 feet, 7 inches in the broad jump.

He, like Jalon Walker, feels like a defensive chess piece, but with even more natural ability at linebacker, which will be his home in the NFL. The Cowboys desperately need a true off-ball playmaker with DeMarvion Overshown coming back from injury and Eric Kendricks set to hit free agency.

Jaydon Blue: Sleeper Running Back Blazes 40​

Houston native Jaydon Blue may not be getting the same hype as Ashton Jeanty or Omarion Hampton, but you can bet he will be a major player in the NFL.

Blue, 21, showed that potential in Indianalpois on Saturday, as he blazed the 40-yard dash with a 4.38. That tied a Longhorns running back record for the combine, matching Jamaal Charles’s time.

1:30 p.m. - The Cowboys may be getting another key contributor to their defense back, as Pro-Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence appears to be nearing a return.

"We'll get [DeMarcus] Lawrence back against Cincinnati more than likely." Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier today on 105.3 The Fan.

Lawrence last played in Dallas' Week 4 victory over the New York Giants, and was able to generate three sacks through the first four games of the season. It'd be a welcome addition to the Cowboys pass rush that tallied six sacks on Thursday against the Giants.

it's a well-known fact that they typically overpay their team players their own home-grown superstars but so they are far from CHEAP... The last few years the better word used would be they're too cautious... They're not aggressive enough they may not make enough moves when they should and they make bad moves when they shouldn't, Like MIngo or paying Jayen Smith and than force to make him a cap casualty. This does happen elsewhere I mean exactly what did Christian McCaffrey do after he got his 19,000,000 overpayment from San Francisco got hurt didn't help them win a Super Bowl they didn't get any further same thing with Samuels 24mil that dude had one Good year, one year over 900 yards, that's it his career isn't much better other than a little bit better in the run game then Michael gallup's career, I mean last year this dude had 670 yards and three touchdowns and Tobert had 610 and 7tds on the worst team. It got them lie us injured and a bad year.

You just make the assumption that what the team has paid to resign it's own players is enough to make up for the lack of VFA.

Nevermind that other teams also draft well and resign their own players. Generally speaking, very few quality free agents leave their drafted teams.

Further, the Cowboys have not been dominant in the draft like they were a decade ago. Mazi and Guyton are not looking expensive and the late round gems are gone.

It is really hard to tell what is what because the team misrepresents constantly and the media has no idea how to do accounting. They just look for enticing permutations of what they see.

At the end of the day, the Cowboys have failed to be able to compete with the NFL's top competition the past several seasons. At best we have been a step below and we took a significant step back last year.

There is no reason for faith in the team.

So, some teams retain drafted players. Just what is that supposed to mean, for or against Dallas. Stereotype means little beyond attitude.
