Shultz is one he** of a receiver. He makes a lot of plays catching the ball. He puts a ton of pressure on defenses to cover him because most LB's can't do it. That frees up a WR from dbl coverage from DB's. He's better than both of these guys in that regard. However, he is a liability as a blocker. And his contract is going to be tough to afford.
Ferg seems to be a duel threat TE. He can block well and he makes plays as a receiver. I don't want to mention out of respect and fear of jinxing him, it but he reminds me a little bit like a certain Cowboys future HOF TE who recently retired.
I was thinking Hendershot was more of a receiver type like Shultz, but after seeing him play I think he's more of a duel threat like Ferg. He's got some nasty to him, which I like.

I'm not sure what the FO will do come the off season. But I do know that if they keep 2 of the 3, we're in good shape going forward.

These two were doing an incredible job of blocking last night. I noticed live but seeing these replays is even more impressive

TE's are paramount in the run game. Its what we lost when we had Jarwin and Shultz in there that last few years.

I like these two young guys. Shultz was not missed in this game.

I'm really liking these two rookie TE's. Hendershot, I'm not going to jump the gun on anything but he looks like he could really be something if he continues to improve and Ferguson had quite a few of those "wow, this guy wants it" plays too. Very promising early signs from these guys. I know we had that mistake where he didn't go down, and that's costly if done at the wrong time again, but I think you could see he knew what he did and he's a Rook so... it happens, he was trying to make a play. Just better get that drilled into his head next time.
I'm pretty sure he was knocked/thrown OB, rather than going out on his own.

I have said it since last year Schultz is not worth the money he is asking, for what he does. Move on from him.

If one of those 2 TEs pan out that is how you should approach most positions. Ok you have a good guy like schultz, just be cause he is "good" does not preclude you from finding his replacement, whether his contract is coming up or his age is getting up there or injury. Every position should be seeing their possible replacement drafted or picked up. It is the only way to stay ahead of the cap. You replace good talent with equally as good but cheaper in the draft and you pay those that have shown they are better than good. Sometimes that means gambling on young guys that rising or cutting ties with "core" players that plateaued

I love it. We finally have a guy who talks

That play by Tyler Smith blocking 4 Giants was as good as it gets
That was reminiscent of Larry Allen. Watching that play fills me with pride. I really hope all these fantastic players we've drafted can bring us to the promised land.

Well I meant more the fact he jumped into the air and tried to leap a guy... instead of just going down and staying in bounds, but I know what you mean. Like I said, rookie mistake, he tried to make something happen and they carried/threw him out of bounds.

Gotcha, yeah it seemed like he underestimated the power and intelligence of professional football players. Probably would've gotten away with that in college.

Limited speed
Not good blocker

Limited upside
As we can see we can get similar production from rookies
Not worth a contract IMO
I agree, I'm just saying he's the best TE (until this draft) we've had for a while. Other than him, we've had Swaim and Jarwin.

The way they can block already, if these guys can develop more in the passing game, we may finally have the TEs to implement the 2 TE set offense like we've been talking about for ages.
