Only one breakdown from Thursday's game, but I thought it was interesting considering the criticism Nahshon Wright is getting here in this forum. Furthermore, even though this clip isn't devoted to a critique of our defensive line, notice the pass rush on the outside and the pressure on the inside.

He made a nice interception and a couple of other plays, but he's also been picked on when he's out there. His movement skills are a bit limited, so quick cuts seem to create enough separation for the quarterback to hit his man. He'll get another chance Sunday to prove himself, but I'm afraid it's a lot like having Jacques Reeves starting at corner in that 2007 playoff game against the Giants ... it's going to get us burned.

Not saying we have many options, but I still think Bland staying at outside corner and Alexander coming in at nickel corner might be a better choice. Every corner gets beat, but when you have one like Wright out there that's an easy pitch and catch on a lot of plays, it negates our pass rush because the QB can get the ball out quickly.

No DT pressure will kill you in the regular season, kill you in the playoffs, and kill you from reaching a Super Bowl. That also means your defense cannot stop the run because your LBs are catching the other teams OL.

When he returns, I hope Hankins is the answer.

And don't underestimate LVE also being able to help with run support

Of course I will stupidly trick myself into thinking maybe Jerry and his dopey son will understand the value of high level DT play this coming offseason.

When we look back at the past quarter century of football teams that failed to go deep into the playoffs the one constant was mediocre (or worse) defenses. Jerry is obsessed with offenses and Jersey sales, glitz and glamor.

Same here. Not gonna lie. When Dak went down I wanted to tank for Jalen Carter. Then I realized. Even with a top 5 pick. Jerry would draft a WR. I cried, poured some scotch and realized nothing will change.

He made a splash play. Not taking that away.

Wright also had a bullseye on his back the entire game and was one of the reasons Dobbs was moving the ball as well as he was through the air. He didn’t have to throw against Bland or Diggs.

The hype over the INT can easily overshadow flaws in his game— lack of speed, agility, route recognition etc… that a more skilled QB will exploit.

I hope he gets better and embraces the opportunity and proves me wrong. I am scared of what Rodgers or Brady may do to him (us) if he trotted out there as an assumed “starting caliber” CB

Only here can a breakdown of Nahshon Wright and the DT's pivot back to Dak.

He lives rent free in haters' heads.
Dak was an affordable rental while they looked for a franchise QB. Problem was the front office forgot he was just a rental and changed to a rent to own plan. You want a DT? So do I. Take a 100 million from Avg Dak and you could have one.

so basically, he played like a 3rd string CB who fell to the 4th round for those exact reasons?

He's not a pressure player, which is why we have to use the NASCAR package, replacing the DTs with DEs, in likely passing situations. Quinn does about as well as you can with what he's got, but there are always limitations when you don't have DTs that can consistently get penetration and disrupt plays. We've tried to address it (Collins, Gallimore, Hill, Odighizuwa, Golston) but need to learn that finding those type of DTs after the first round relies on a lot of luck. We either need to spend a first on it or dip into free agency/trades if one becomes available.
