Barber An "Every-Down Back...

Given the fact that Dallas will have Barber, F. Jones and Choice I'm not concerned with Barber getting worn out. Marion will be just fine and should continue to run hard as he has through out his football career. I would also add the return of Deion Anderson should be a big help as well for the Cowboys backfield

Barber 18-20 touches a game.
Felix 10-12 touches touches a game.

Possibly. But if Felix wants 12 carries a game, he better make a quick transition to the NFL and have a good TC.

You have gotta like the home run threat Felix gives us especially after Barber smashes the Defense for a couple of Quarters. In comes Felix and busts a 60 yarder. Honestly, I see Felix having a decent TD total this year if this strategy is used.

Remember the rushing yards we had in the 4th Quarter last year? It will probably be even better this year...imo.

Cowboys beat writer Todd Archer expects Marion Barber to be an "every-down back" despite the team's addition of Felix Jones.

Archer doesn't think Barber will get 300 carries, but 300 touches is doable because he'll catch a lot of balls. Jones is expected to get 10-12 touches per game as a change of pace. Barber will get every goal-line carry imaginable.

Last year our RBs and FBs had 456 touches. If Barber gets 300 then it is very unlikely that Jones would get 10-12 touches a game as well.

Felix Jones will get some carries. Barber will be feature back. 1700 yards and 20 TD's

To achieve that is to shorten this man's career. Not worth it.

He was noticably worn out by the third quarter in the Giants game, and began taking the sidelines to avoid the hit.

I think they'll get what they deserve in Barber- a good lesson in when not to listen to the media.

Yep. See above.

Yeah... that starting Barber in playoff game.... wow... media pressure? maybe... who knows

Wow, now that is quite the opinion. I hope you are right.

I agree that the 20 TDs is a possibility, but more likely 15 or so. But the 1700-yards is a little bit overboard in my opinion. I'll give him 1200 yards off of 250 carries this year because we drafted Felix Jones.

I am so not a stats guy when it comes to Barber... well TD's I am

Flip that around and you are good. :D

If the think Barber will get 300 touches this year, they must plan on letting him sleep on the sidelines.

I think he'll be good for a while, but as the toll of carrying the ball for every down sets in, he will do exactly what they thought he would do if given the ball too much before Wade arrived- diminishing returns.

That's not the way I saw it at all. I just rewatched the game the other day.

The first half the Giants were worried about our passing game and we plowed over them with our running game.

The 2nd half, they were keying on our running game after seeing that TO and our passing game wasn't the same threat that it was in previous games.

What I saw was a secondary that went from heavily defending the pass to a secondary that was flying up to stop the run immediately upon any sign that the play was a run. And I mean their safeties were FLYING up to the Line of Scrimmage to stop the run after that first half of getting bowled over!

We had pretty good blocking on the front seven on many plays, but the safeties and CB's were the guys flying up and making the tackles.

Barber didn't look tired to me... he looked like he didn't have the same room to run in the 2nd half because our opponents were defending the run better.
