again whatever summer. dont discuss the actual points. youre head is firmly in the sand.

The actual points were discussed and yet, you proceeded to make prediction without any doubt you might just be wrong.

JJ has a chance to work with different coaches and 1 new OL (for now, might be 2).

So neither you, nor me should talk of any absolutes about our running games.

I said we'll see over time and thats all that can be said at this point.

I am with you on this.

I have said many times over a couple statements regarding this topic:

#1. MBIII was NEVER the feature back. Maybe in HS but who cares, in college ! Minnesota he was used the same exact way we are using him. He split carries there and now here in Dallas.

#2. MBIII is like that lights out, 100 MPH closer for an MLB team. He runs with extreme violence EVERY play and would be a very tough, if not impossible to run that same way 20+ times a game.

The running game was "ok" and can only get better with OL upgrades and coaching.

I am still not convinced JJ is a pile-seeker just yet, this season will answer that question (he has a new coaching staff and hopefully it will have a positive affect on his play).

Barber carried the ball enough in college to believe that he could handle being the starter . 231 carries in 11 games in his last year as well as punt return and kickoff duty. Him splitting carries is not as dramatic as some want to make it.

You never know until you try. I refuse to join the crowd that claims Barber cant start because of his situation in college. He carried it over 20 times a game his last year in school, he took punishment on returns, he played well when Jones was hurt in 2005. The RB situation should be an open competition this offseason so the best player will get the bulk of the carries.

and again it has been pointed out that while the coaches and line remained the same that these guys faded losing signicant YPC.

like i said you change the line that you are going to still see the same dynamic after 150 carries. Tony Sparano is still the line coach. i am very interested how this is going to change. they are still going to run and be hit.

I am for whatever works.

In no way I am married to JJ but I'm not exactly anti-JJ like a group of people either.

I think this year will tell us what we need to know about him.

I agree. I'm not ready to give up on Jones but I do see this as a critical year for him and his future with the team.

Actually that should have been last year. After three years of injuries, late season fades and a sudden tendency to run into piles i think its about time to hang it up for him being anything more than a change of pace guy for a series or two a game.

i just dont see how in his fourth year hes suddenly going to become more durable. if anything hes more likely to get hurt.

Maybe so but unless Dallas plans to go after a back in the draft I expect Jones to be a member of this team. As far as who starts I think that could be up for grabs this season. If not mistaken Jones is heading into the last year of his contract so I would think this will be his last chance to show himself one way or the other.

That can be said about any RB coming out of college.

Doesn't Barber deserve the chance to win the job? Hasn't he earned the chance?

I prefer MB3 in the role he's in now, and improving/replacing JuJo, but if he proves to be the better lead runner then he should get the job.

Really, replacing MB3 in his current role would be harder then replacing JuJo in his current role.

was not injured last year. So no three years there.
Late season fade- not his first year; and he seemed to do pretty well in the playoff game. So no three years there. Also did not run into piles his first year- so no three years there.

Let'em fight it out at training camp give the winner the majority of the carries if JJ wins then all is well and good and I keep saying this I expect him to run a lot better this year in 2 back sets with a lead blocker anyway if MBIII wins let JJ go into FA and draft a 1st round talent next year backs 'mostly' dont take long to adjust to the NFL so no major harm to the team.

How could he have POSSIBLY done well in the playoff game if Parcells ruined him?

And are you afraid of your boy having to compete for the job? Let 'em compete... may the best man win.

Jones and Barber will produce on a consistent basis when the line can produce on a consistent basis. Until then I will not judge either of them.

Barber is the guy who gets the tough yards and Julius has a run or two where he can go for thrity or more unlike Barber.

Jones had 5 runs of 20 or more yards, Barber had 4 with half the carries. Barber does run tough but he has also been the most consistent. At this stage I would have them compete for the starting role. I like Jones but he had 11 games where he average less than 4 a carry and that is not going to cut it if he is going to get the majority of the carries. Like others I hope with better line play that will change but Jones has to step up and prove that he can be a consistent runner.
