Barber Third Down Run

I'm sure this has been discussed, so I apologize for the repeat thread. I got home late on Sunday night and had a long day at work so I haven't had much time to read the board.

It looked to me based on the video board replay that Barber clearly cross the plane on the 3rd down run. The highlight on NFL.com looks the same.

So, my question is, was there a clear shot that I haven't seen from the TV broadcast that showed that it wasn't a TD?

I think he crossed the plane but I don't think he did so clearly. And from all the shots I've seen, there hasn't been a convincing or glaring one yet.

Adam posted some pictures in a thread earlier, I don't think they were conclusive.

Honestly, the bigger question is why didn't Wade Phillips at least challenge?

That's a good question. At the time, I thought it was because it was within 2 minutes, but now I see from the highlights that it wasn't.

Stupid decision, I think.

I made a thread discussing how close I felt the ball was to crossing the plane. I was called a stupid blind homer.

Barber was within inches of crossing the plane, if not he crossed it. A challenge there would have given us the ball within inches. If you can't QB sneak that, you should quit the game.

They said today that the coaches in the booth never alerted Wade after the play.I guess they didn't see anything or they were too busy with a circle jerk.

3D glasses.

or they were distracted by the constant ads being run on the big board.

not sure if anyone knows this, but they basically never show replays and never ever show replays of a negative cowboys play....

Perhaps you could post clearer pictures of these, because the pictures you posted aren't when I think the ball crossed. I think it crossed on his initial lunge.

The red spot marks where Barber has the ball.

If it's still in the same position in his hands, it should have crossed the plane here.

After that he is pushed back it appears.

Edit, never mind. I see where Adam did and it's pretty obvious the ball crossed the goal line.

Had we challenged, the refs would have been scrutinizing the goal line and endzone replays, and neither showed him definitively crossing the line.

I think they actually have another view too that the tv cameras dont have..

not that it would have mattered.

Adam's pictures show enough to overturn the call. You don't have to actually see the ball cross the plane to know with more than a reasonable certainty that it crossed. Of course, you never know with refs, but either way, the challenge is a no-brainer.

Adam's pic was a live action shot, right? I've rarely seen them overturn goal line calls based on live action/full speed replays taken from behind (or sort of behind) the play.

Not sure what you mean by "live action/full speed" replays, but it's about as dead even with the goal line as you can get.
