In virtually every screen cap you show, you either show too far before the moment he cross or too far after. It's almost as if you're purposefully choosing not to post the pics that show he crossed the plane.

Christ, why do I even bother? No, there was no malice of forethought on my part. I simply didn't see the point of uploading a pic depicting an inconclusive, blurry tangle of bodies. Here's the full sequence of pix:

Can u do the same for the second pic please?
Show where the ball is? No, you can't see the ball. That doesn't prevent you from drawing a conclusion as to where the ball is located. The ball is several inches past his shoulder stripes or, at the least, even with his stripes, which are beyond the goal line.

I'm not sure why showing stills that aren't at all relevant (e.g., pictures taken well after the ball allegedly cross the plane) is worth any more of your time than these.

You posted stills from multiple angles, and in each set, you posted stills before and after the "height" of his lunge (i.e., the furthest point to which the ball traveled). As you suggest, you did so purposefully because they were "blurry" and "inconclusive." I have no idea if you had any other motive, but obviously I was noticing something that you yourself admit you were intentionally leaving out.

Regardless, thanks for posting these and thanks again for posting the initial link earlier in the thread. That's the reason I started the thread -- I knew someone on here would be helpful enough to provide the answers I was seeking.

That's the key word: conclusive. I had nothing on my computer that conclusively proved that Barber crossed the goal line. Assuming the refs were working with the same replay angles, they no doubt would have come to the same conclusion. In short, no "incontrovertible evidence" that the original call was wrong.

I think he crossed the plane but I don't think he did so clearly. And from all the shots I've seen, there hasn't been a convincing or glaring one yet.

Boy I tell ya what, the refs during Super Bowl XL sure were convinced that Ben Roethlisberger crossed the goal line on that infamous QB sneak against the Seahawks. Why can't we get those Steeler refs to referee the Cowboys?

Here, the ball is 4-5 inches ahead of the stripes on Barber's shoulder pads. Barber is not extending the ball forward and it is well beyond the stripes on his shoulder.

Here, the stripes on Barber's should pads clearly cross the goal line. If the ball didn't cross, Barber must have lost possession.

After the second pic, Barber is pushed back. But it is clear on his initial lunge, the ball crossed.

I wish it was called a TD more than anybody, but I have to say that I dont see how anybody can say that he clearly crossed the line.

Yes, it appears as though he crossed the line, but I cant even see the ball in these pictures. There is noway I can say without a doubt that ball crossed the line, I simply cant tell from these pictures.

I do agree that we should have at least challeged it, for nothing else than getting a better spot.

Rewatching that sequence on tivo, the network had a better angle of that 3rd down play from the end zone. It sure didn't look like Barber got in. His body tips towards the ground right as the linebackers fill, and the ball dips right at the point of the spot. It was a pretty good call by officials, unfortunately.

The fact that us Cowboys fans cannot agree if it was a TD or not should tell you that the refs were not going to overturn the call.

We still should have challenged for a better spot.

My initial thought was two hands up for the TD when i saw the play. It may not be enough evidence there to overturn it because the goalline is so crowded. I guess if we were the Steelers, we'd get the TD (remember last years Holmes TD vs the Ravens)

A better question is why didn't Barber try to extend the ball?

That's what I said when I watched the play. Perhaps he was afraid of fumbling like he had against the Giants and the other game a few weeks back.
Our toughest player (or one of them) playing scared at a critical moment probably says a lot about this team.

That goal line stand spelled doom for the Cowboys and the missed FG was like a nail in the coffin. As frustrating as our D was at times, SD scored only 20. There was no way we should have scored less than 20 at home against that D. Those 10 points were the difference.

FWIW I thought he scored too. It wasn't by much though so if Wade had challenged probably not a good chance for overturning it.

And notice who is in on the stop.

I think we are all missing the bigger picture here.

If you have 3 shots from the 1 yard line to punch it in and the best you can do is "maybe the nose of the ball broke the plane, maybe", then you really have some problems with your team.

Just to add insult to injury, SD had their 4th string NT in the game. We could not get 1 freaking yard against the 4th string nose tackle.......un freaking believable:mad:

There was not enough evidence to overturn the call in my opinion. I think it was close and did think he crossed the line however looking at replay there was nothing to prove it one way or the other. Had they ruled a TD I doubt replay would have changed it for SD.

Only thing I was a bit upset with is Dallas used a pulling guard down at the 1, I think that is a mistake because it allows the defensive linemen who are firing out low to make quick penetration into the backfield.

On goal line I feel the OL needs to go straight ahead blocking and give the back the initial push to pick up the yard

Their nose tackle was ridden of the play easily by Gurode.

Yep, that's the angle I remember seeing too.

All I saw, was Barbers' helmet crossing/touching the plane. I'm sure Wade saw that on the Jumbotron and was satisfied. Still, those ****ing refs should have moved it to 4th and inches.

I agree, I don't think he got in, either. And I know what theogt is saying about concluding where the ball is based on Barber's jersey, but I don't think the refs would change a call based on that -- I think they have to clearly see the ball itself.

But also like others said, I think the ball should've been spotted much closer to the goal line than it was... As in, only a couple of inches short.

But if we call the same fullback dive play on 4th, I don't know if we even get that. I think we need to QB sneak the ball, myself.

Yep. Instead of hoping and praying that the ball touches one fleck of white paint, score a TD like a man.

I agree that a sneak would have been a good call. But the entire right side of our line was submarined on that 4th down play. Both Bigg and Free got beat low and effectively pushed back with the LBs filling in behind. Even a sneak to that side wouldn't have worked, unfortunately.
