Bobby: I think the perceived effect becomes more of a distraction than the actual effect.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Thanks for the recap, Hypno.

Why is Bobby on ESPN espousing his opinions on team chemistry, and playing fantasy GM regarding TO, and predicting us to make the playoffs... When he can't even play.

Can you imagine in the 80s? Here's Rod Hill of the Dallas Cowboys to tell us all about football and life!

Don't go away mad, Bobby... Just go away.

Those are actually pretty astute comments from Carpenter. And he didn't shy away from his take on TO, which is refreshing.

I was hoping Bobby would have never been a Cowboy. In the back of my mind I didn't see a problem drafting him, because of his measureables and his ability on the field at Ohio State, but his struggles at LB are all his fault. He has the weight room strength to take on blockers like Bradie does, but he chooses to run around them; taking himself out of position.

I would think that he could play either OLB spot in a 4-3 and do it pretty well.

I hope somebody offers him for a draft pick this weekend because he will never see the field with Stewart/draft pick/RFA/possible FA pickup this TC, IMO. The 3-4 just doesn't fit his abilities in any way...

Maybe if I were local or ever listened to Carpenter I'd understand why people hate the guy so much.

It's a weird situation when a player makes a point of doing shows so we can get an off-season Cowboys fix, and the fans hate him for it.
Probably because we've come to expect interviews with people that have actually accomplished something.

Maybe this will be the year, but that statement has been made with Mr. Porn-stache every year...

I've given up on him making a real difference on the field. But he's a bright guy and has insight into the team, so I think what he has to say is interesting, and I appreciate him taking the time to share his perspective.

I suppose I sort of understand the reaction, b/c I could imagine my own response if, say, Pacman Jones were giving the interviews, but that's because I think Pacman is a despicable person. Other than the fact that our fans all think they're entitled to a championship every season, I don't get the reaction to a backup coming on a radio show and telling us what he thinks the impact of having TO off the team will be.

While I've been unimpressed with Bobby thus far in his career I will say he is the first one I've heard say that he wouldn't take Owens long term and the reason being some of the stuff wears on you. It's at least the first player who honestly didn't like him here or is the first player willing to say it.

*Shrugs* Don't know which, don't care honestly, it was just interesting to see someone actually say it.

Great answer by Bobby. He almost exonerates TO, while simutaneously admitting that it isn't worth it having him on the team.

Here's my take on Bobby.

Prove it this year or be gone. Either he steps it up and contributes as a nickel linebacker AND Special Teams AND start stealing some snaps from Keith Brooking or he will be released before next season. It's on him. How bad does he want it?

I'm not going to get upset over him being a bust anymore. I'm going to root for him like heck this year and if he falters, I'll forget about him. Hopefully, our GM and scouting staff learn from it and we don't make that mistake again.

That all being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he is dealt this weekend.

That's my take on the guy, almost exactly.

It's easy to get on JJ for taking Bobby Carpenter. But most pundits agreed he was the "safest pick" in the whole draft.

So many were wrong on him. What a disappointment....but then again, many of us also wanted Manny Lawson...and he's been a disappointment too.

Do you suppose Cowboy players will stop getting asked about TO after the season starts?

Ok so lay your chips down:

a) traded this draft weekend
b) cut after season
c) starter in nickel
d) cut before season and signs with the fish
