Fair enough. But if he @ 18, I would hope we could trade back and still grab him. He's got the size, the footwork, the accuracy, the brain, but his arm strength is a little suspect. But there are a lot of top tier QBs that have "suspect arm strength". I, personally think arm strength is a little overrated.

I don't think he has the footwork, the accuracy or the brain.

I don't like knocking players and there are things I like with Barkley but what I see is a good college QB who I just think will struggle in the NFL and using a 1st rd pick on a Barkley in what many consider a weak QB draft is something I think will hurt us not help us.

I do think the QB position should be something the team looks at but I'm just not sold on this draft class.

Honestly I would be more interested in Tyler Bray in the 4th or 5th rd if I'm going to take a chance on this QB class.

Some of us are not sold on him as a franchise QB. Using a 1st rd pick on a QB you don't believe in is the issue. I think Dallas should look to get a QB soon but I'm not overly impressed with this year’s so called top QB prospects.

agree with this

bottom line is, we should build the team this year and extend romo
no need to reach for a QB in a QB-poor class

next year we might take someone in 2 or 3 if we think highly of him

This is my stance. We have too many question marks on either side of the ball to make a "luxury" pick like this. I like Barkley, it is just too big a risk not knowing if he will be as big a success in The League.

In the most recent mocks I've seen, Bray is going in the 2nd round.

I'd rather wait until next year. There are a bunch of good QBs that could/will come out.

Teddy Bridgewater
Johnny Manziel
David Fales
Tajh Boyd
Aaron Murray
AJ McCarron
Braxton Miller

Barkley can be a starter but he will need a lot of team with him: run game foundation, quality WR, top defense, strong special teams.

I've seen Barkley throw more than 250 passes. He does not drive the ball. His intermediate + deeper throws lose energy on the back end.

I wonder what Cosell thought of Luck's arm strength coming out, being that Barkley puts more velocity behind his passes.

To me it's really funny. It really seems like the majority opinion on here is that we are nowhere close to winning a SB yet most of those people don't want to draft a new franchise QB like Barkley.

I think late first is the perfect value for Barkley. Right now, he isn't a top 5 pick but he has very good upside.

I really wouldn't mind drafting him in the 1st TBH. I know we have more pressing needs NOW but getting a year jump on the development of a QB can do wonders.

People dont want to draft Barclay because they do not consider him a franchise QB, he is Sanchez 2.0

Besides, we are fixing to give Romo a $100 million dollar contract, so why the hell are we using a 1st rounder on another QB?

I can't even believe this is even a conversation.
I'm not kidding; you could list at least 40-50 players who I would rather have in the 1st round over Barkley. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but good grief!
If I didn't like him at all I'd say 6th round. That is not the case.
But come on...1st round for Dallas?

Barkley? c'mon, this can't be serious....if he is taken in the first round by anyone then they are desparate...QB is likely the 6th or 7th position I would even consider for this team so no to Barkley

And that could happen some teams are desperate for a QB and could take him with a 2nd. My question would be is he really worth a 2nd? In my view no, I think he has a chance to develop and maybe become a good NFL QB but I don't see his value as a 2nd rd pick. 3rd on yes. In the case of the Cowboys getting a QB to groom behind Romo is a good idea but we are not in a desperate situation to get a QB

2011 Stanford-USC game when we got to see them head to head, everyone came away with that conclusion because it was obvious.

Barkley is the typical over hyped USC QB. Who benefited from top O Line WR, etc in college. It is no wonder that onlY Palmer has done anything over the last what 20 years?

I try not to judge one player based on another player or the school he goes to. I don't dislike Barkley and I would not even say he will be a bust what I will say is I think he is too big of a risk at 18.

Dallas is not without a QB and while it would be great to have a young guy sitting in the wings behind Romo it is not critical at this stage clearly not enough to reach for a QB when there are true critical needs this team needs to focus on.

So, no you don't have any facts to make that conclusion.

My problem is not with Barkley's arm strength. If a QB is smart, can read defenses well, make quick decisions and has good anticipation then they can make up for a less than stellar arm. I don't think Barkley has those attributes.
