Church has been a liability in coverage from day one. Some have chosen to overlook because the team loves him and he's a great locker room guy.

His replacement is a year away....

No, he was a part of an entire unit that became dysfunction. As per aka, here, he is a convenient whipping boy for getting away with not seeing here and now improvement, as planned, in the secondary.

Church is barely a SS, more like a hybrid LB in a Dime lol

It appears that few have been paying attention to Training Camp...or looking beyond their collective noses. In Camp, different roles are assumed and players interact in a variety of roles. That is called team players...but do carry on.

As if everyone knows what the call was there.

Free safeties aren't expected to cover over the top on corner routes in every defense. They shade inside, and they shade outside, depending on the call.

That same play happens to Earl Thomas, folks. Depends on the play call.

This is from Broadus

  • David Helman loves when I do this, so this one was for you, T.J. After the scrimmage, I walked over to Dez Bryant as he was playing catch with his son and yelled “Stutter-Go?” He replied with a smile -- “Yes sir.” Going back and taking a look at the play, it was an outstanding job by Bryant of selling the route against Brandon Carr. Bryant lined up on the left side and came off the line with some pace. Carr had to respect that, but it wasn’t until Bryant went for the stutter that Carr sank his hips. Once Bryant had him in that position, he was able to once again burst up the field, leaving Carr in a trailing position. Romo laid the ball in a perfect position out front of Bryant and away from a driving Barry Church, who was late to the scene helping with Cole Beasley. It was a well-executed route with an outstanding throw against a cornerback that had been giving Dez Bryant fits in these practices.
Maybe Church wasn't as much to blame if he was helping out on Cole Beasley.

First of all no one was deep in the middle of the field and you have three LB and whatever the other S you cannot see is doing. Church isn't on the far hash. You cannot see the left hash deep because of the camera angle. He may have dived but he wasn't within 5 yards of the catch. Now all we need to see is Eatman saying Church should have made the pro bowl and the fluff job will be complete.

I understand that Captain, just using reverse spiritual psychology on players that need to improve as well as stay healthy. When I talk players up they have bad seasons, when I trash them they step up. #ReverseTheHex

It's not man coverage, because the linebackers are playing zone.

It's not always so cut and dry. Coverages are mixed more often than not. Even if it's pure cover 2 the corner can carry the receiver if that's how he reads it. It could have been "palms" coverage or cover 2 trap. These coverages are more complex than we even realize.

Captain? Sorry...I work for a living. I once liked the Doors and Moody Blues...but was a linebacker through College.
