And again, you’re glossing over the fact that Dak as an individual was just a much better player than Smith was, early in their careers. Regardless of teams. Which was the point of my post.

You’re the one bringing up the lame “better team” argument. When if you actually watched the players play, and evaluate their play, Dak was clearly better. Alex Smith was horrendous early in his career.

Also, you bring up that the 2015 cowboys had super bowl aspirations until their franchise QB got hurt.

Yet that franchise QB who missed 2015 due to injury, didn’t play in 2016 either, now did he? That’s right because Dak played in his place and the team went 13-3. Which makes the 2015 team argument even weaker.

Again, Alex Smith was HORRIBLE. Early in his career. His third season he started 7 games and had a QB rating in the 50’s. That is god awful terrible. Smith has 1 TD and 11 ints his rookie season. Which is god awful no matter who you’re throwing to.

Trying to blame a performance that bad on the supporting cast just doesn’t hold any water.

A lot of Dak’s success is due to the talent level around him. With a great supporting cast, Dak has been better in his first few seasons compared to a Smith, but both of them are at the bus driver level of play. So smart they can build an amazing roster good enough to win a title with a “bus driver”.

But not smart enough to determine if their current QB is good enough or not.

I actually don’t disagree with the idea that Dak has a lot of talent around him. He does.

I do disagree with the idea that there are these magical QB’s out there that can win super bowls without having good players around them.

I also disagree with the foolish and silly notion that some like to spread, that QB’s don’t improve beyond their 3rd year in the league. Despite the many QB’s in history that have done just that.


And again, none of what you said dispels my original comment in the thread that I was defending. Which is that Dak had a better start to his career and was a better player in his first 3 season. Than Alex Smith was. And that it took Smith years to develop to be that bus driver. And that maybe, just maybe, Dak might go from being a 12-15 level QB and continue to develop into something better given that history clearly shows that QB’s often can and do continue to improve beyond their 3rd seasons.

Went through this thread and upvoted everyone in this thread who said that wins are a team stat.

Assuming that one player is responsible for wins and losses (at least in aggregate) is the most fundamental misunderstanding you make about a team game.

I’m not doubting his football knowledge. I sometimes hear Scott on the radio here locally in NY. He’s not exactly the best radio guy. Idk if he’s just trying to sound controversial or whatever. I don’t listen often but when I do he does this kinda stuff. Kinda go all in even if you don’t know if it’s true or not.
