Bass acquitted himself exceptionally well in his first season, especially when you factor in the variables that forced him onto center stage alongside Brock Hoffman (2022 UDFA).

The key phrase here is "center stage", because while it was expected that Hoffman would battle Beebe for snaps in the middle, Solari made it clear that Bass is also one to watch there.

"We're gonna work him at center," said Solari. "He wants to start, so he's gonna compete at the center and at the guard position. That versatility is so important to have — a second or even a third center going into games. With limitations on how many offensive linemen you can dress, it's a critical factor. It's really important, and he's been studying that position.

"But until the pads come on, and we get in that game-like environment — we're looking forward to that. But, right now, he's in position to learn the offense at center."

He's getting a lot of love this Beebe kid eh.. lol

It's cool.. we seem to have found another fan favorite.

Instead of Mooooose.. we could hear.. Beebeeeeeee.

Anyone else getting the feeling with a better scheme than last year, this years OL will take a big step forward at some point this season?
I wanna feel that way but lack the confidence in Solari, Schott or McFraud mastering the basics of effective run game scheme and execution.

I'm more leaning towards hoping the talent overcomes the coaching tbh.

So Ds across the NFL will be trying to rattle the new guy snapping the ball?
Not a position that is easily nailed down.

Here's The Good News -- there's nothing like competition to boost a player's development enough to qualify as a starter!

Don’t tug on Superman’s cape
Don’t spit into the wind
Don’t try and take Beebe’s job
You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don't mess around with Beebe's job!

Been more than a few years since I heard that song.

No.

But I'm also not pretending to know the future. Anything can happen.

But this isn't even news. Only some fans here had Beebe as a HOF right away. Everyone else knows that he's just a promising rookie. Of course he has to fight for the job with every other capable center on the team.

Edit: Ok you also said "at some point", I missed that in my first read. So yes, that's what I hope too. Doesn't mean that it's a leap over last year's O line though. But they will get better each game.

I thought Beebe was first ballot for the center position? What has changed in a week?

Maybe the staff learned he's not as good as they thought and wants to test others to see if they could do better. Maybe Bass requested a tryout.

The staff? Who @ staff ever said he will start at center? Wasn't that just a fan narrative? He's a third round pick. Maybe a great one, but there's no starting line up guarantee.

Good. I’m a big fan of Bass and any way he can get in the field the better.

Unlikely scenario but if Bass wins or at least shows he can hold down C at a high level, does Beebe go to LG and Smith to LT? What becomes our best combination?

The last player who was competing against Beebe for a starting spot was found 3 days later in an abandoned house. Police said the crime scene was the worst they ever saw. The case is still open.

Bass can play in this league IMO, he looked decent last year, as did Hoffman.

If we give this FO criticism then we can also give them credit; they seem to get OL right.

Good to read. I think we have a gem in Bass, so hopefully we find a way to get him on the field (doesn't have to be center).
