So sad that considering the state of the Oline last year that with FA and the draft the Cowboys didnt go out and get a legitimate stud LG to solidify the Oline.
I wish they would have. But things just did not fall that way. But they could have made some moves to make it fall their way.
I know Fehoko was more of a future move on the DL. But they could have done something there, or even traded up.

I am still happy with the draft overall. Only can hope for the best at this point. Unless a trade during TC.

There's no reason to think he won't be.

But it's probably Waletzko.
Sure there is. Did Gallup start last year when the FO said he would be ready? He definitely wont be 100% if he does start game 1. I bet they let him rest a few more weeks. I see no way he plays in TC or preseason.

The Smiths' situation is different and Martin is at RG, obviously.

But Center and LG should be open. Biadisz is okay but what if someone else steps up? Highly touted UDR from last year, can't remember his name...

They moved Alarcon to Defense. They signed a decent potentially decent FA... Eboka?

But I'd say it's definitely a hunt for the best LG but Center shouldn't be forgotten.

Gallup got hurt in January and didn't have surgery until the second week in February. Steele is well over a month ahead of him.

Steele might miss a game or two, but assuming that is just blind speculation. There's nothing to suggest that will be the case.

Well it's been obvious all offseason regardless of how badly some want Tyler to be at LT that Tyler will start the season at LG. So that's not close to bold. But, I don't suspect he stays there when Tyron gets hurt and Tyron will get hurt, so I'm assuming that's the bold part of it. This Waletzko hype is just that IMO until he shows he can play LT at the NFL level and I don't suspect he can THIS year. I'm not writing him off, I just think assuming it can happen this particular season on a team hoping for playoff advancement is based on nothing but hope and a whim and that's not how you build an NFL roster. Hopefully when the pads come on he changes my mind. Edoga has a much better chance of playing somewhere on the OL than Waletzko IMO
I think people are being hopeful if they think Steele will be 100% or even ready to start the season.

If the Cowboys want to be success in 2023, they need Dak Prescott to stay upright in the pocket. However, that task might become more difficult for the Cowboys after the team's latest injury update.

Right tackle Terence Steele might not be ready for training camp, via Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. Head coach Mike McCarthy is unaware of Steele's timeline and is waiting to see where the cards fall come Cowboys training camp.

“We'll have to see when we get to Oxnard,” McCarthy said.

Steele underwent knee surgery in December to repair his torn ACL and MCL. While he still has plenty of time before Week 1, training camp might still be too early for Steele's return.

These are the type of slow roll excuses we have heard for years. TC is only two weeks long then you have preseason. I dont see them risking him in preseason.

Not ready for the start of training camp and missing week 1 is not the same thing.

Lewis will start TC on PUP, that has already been stated. I expect them to stay with that choice. Matter of fact, I expect him to start the season on PUP. As I think he had a little set back in his rehab.

As for Steele, I seen nothing about that possibility to start TC on PUP.
However I expect he will. It is what this team does. I agree, he will probably miss TC and even if he is ready, he will not see any PS game action.

If he is ready for game 1, expect him to play with a knee brace. And yes, I would not doubt he misses a few games at first.
Just as they did with Gallup, remove him from PUP, and be on the initial roster. Evaluate his progress going into each game.

Well use some logic here. Not ready for training camp is the first step in it. If your not ready for camp then you probably miss camp. Then there is preseason. Are they going to risk him in a preseason game?

And lets say he does start week 1. No way he is 100%. Gallup was a shell of himself last year. And they were telling us all year that Gallup would be ready for week 1.

Steele will start the season at RT unless he has a set back. You don't move like he did in April and not be ready 5 months later. 100%? That's a different discussion
They are already pushing back his timeline.

The right tackle signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent follow

Yep, so I think we are looking at Walenzko starting the first few games at RT. So now if Tyron gets hurt in TC its complete disaster already.

Even if Tyron doesnt get hurt he wont play in TC so there will be a lack of continuity on the line going into the early season.

That's not logic, it's blind speculation. Starters don't really play in pre-season anyway, nor do they need to.

They said in July that it was likely Gallup missed week 1 when they put him on PUP. Steele is 5-6 weeks ahead in his timeline.

Whether Steele is 100% or not is irrelevant.

You want a bold of prediction? Tyron Smith starts every game at left tackle:flagwave:or is that a bowl prediction:laugh:
Makes the most sense...don't know why we didn't go get a G. You have a young LT holding his own at one of the hardest positions on to play in the league, and we move him back to G after showing he is capable of being a top T? Only this team. Then there will be an injury and the musical chairs begin again.

OL is one of the most critical positions to maintain stability to work as a unit, but we think we can wing it each time with the best 5. I agree in theory, but it's been obviously effecting the OL play the last few seasons with confusion and missed assignments.

I would rather have seen them take the guard in the 2nd round that fell to us instead of Shoonmaker.

But thats really just a position preference. I cant say whether one is better than the other.
