From what I have heard, this is the last season for THIS BattleStar G however someone told me they are making another series from it. I think it is going to be prior to the cylon attack that made them leave.

Don't know if it is true, just what I heard.

The show has gotten too spiritual/mystical. I'm not liking that it's going that direction. Baltar healing the terminal kid cuz he offered to give his life? C'mon.

Stick with the robots trying to kill humans and leave the spritual crap out of it.

I've been a diehard of the show since the mini-series and I'm forever grateful to the SciFi Channel for re-inventing the franchise. It is so much better than the original--even though Burm might disagree with me. ;) :D

But the 'spiritual/mystical crap' has been a part of the series from jump. From #6 preaching about the 'one true God' to all the humans praising Athena, etc. From the humans finding Kobol and Athena's Tomb to their 'pilgrimage' to the Eye of Jupiter.

EDIT: Explain the #6 being in Baltar's head since her death? He once had a brain scan done. There's no Cylon chip implanted in his skill. 'Angel', maybe?

That theme's been central to the story since the beginning. The show itself may be ending sooner than its creators intended, but I think that this was going to be their direction for its final conclusion since they thought up the mini-series. JMO.

I can't wait to see Cally's reaction when she finally discovers that her husband is really a Cylon. It's no secret that she hates Cylons with a passion. She assassinated the first Sharon model after Boomer tried to assassinate Adama. IMO, I think her motive had less to do about her rage after finding out that Adama was almost killed and more to do with her feelings for the Chief getting screwed over by his Cylon sleeper agent lover. Now, she's unknowingly given birth to his half-human/half-Cylon child. How's that for irony?

I am already betting that this "prequel" you speak of will be better than THIS current version of BSG. It just never got going to me...

I think Starbuck is the last cylon.

I disagree, but I do believe that the last Cylon model to be revealed will be one of the main 22 cast members listed on the Battlestar Galactica website. They are:

  • Adama
  • Roslin
  • Starbuck
  • Apollo
  • Baltar
  • Six
  • Sharon
  • Saul Tigh
  • Tyrol
  • Helo
  • Sam Anders
  • Gaeta
  • Dualla
  • Cally
  • Tory
  • D'Anna
  • Tom Zarek
  • Cavil
  • Leoben
  • Doral
  • Romo Lampkin
  • Simon
We can eliminate half that list because of the eleven known Cylon models. In eliminating the rest, I'm going on an assumption that all of the remaining five Cylon models' programming has been activated.

When the switch was flipped, it impelled Tory, Sam, Tigh and the Chief to meet secretly. The meeting place was on the Galactica. That leads me to believe that only people stationed on the Galactica (Sam, Tigh and the Chief) or people with easy access to board the ship (Tory) would have been drawn to the meeting. If so, that removes Adama, Roslin, Apollo, Baltar, Helo, Mr. Gaeta, Dualla and Cally from the equation. That leaves Starbuck (yeah, I'm coming back to her), Tom Zarek and Romo Lampkin.

Here's my reasoning for Starbuck not being the final Cylon:

1. She has never attempted to meet with the other four Cylons.
2. There's no conceivable way the Cylons could have manufactured both her death and rebirth (unless they have transporters :) ).

I think that Starbuck has been to Earth. I also believe that the creators of the show have a mystical/spiritual/higher plane of existence theme in place to explain how she survived her ship's implosion on that gas giant planet and made it to Earth AND I think they're simply borrowing from a few episodes of the original series in doing just that.

For fans of the first series, we remember two sets of episodes: one where the Galactica was reunited with the Pegasus and another where they found an Earthlike planet. During both storylines, they ran into an advanced civilization--whose ships were like balls of light. In one of the episodes, Starbuck (and I think Apollo too) 'died' and were taken aboard one of the super aliens ships. They were surrounded by light and the aliens themselves were bathed in white light.

Not to get long-winded ( ), but the super aliens saved Starbuck in a similar fashion during the original series as Kara Thrace was. I feel that Starbuck is the real deal and here's my explanation for her 'death', journey to Earth and return to Galactica.

From childhood, Starbuck had visions of that whirlpool on that gas giant. I think that whirlpool where she 'died' is some sort of gateway to our solar system and was hidden there by the 13th Tribe or whomever to make sure that the Cylons couldn't find Earth. I also believe that the map back on Kobol and the Eye of Jupiter were put there as a way of misleading the Cylons away from Earth. Here's another stretch: I think that whomever put the wild goose chases in place knew that only a prophet (Starbuck) could lead the humans away from the false paths laid down for them and back to Earth.

That's my thoughts on Starbuck and I'm sticking to them. Now watch how the show's creators totally punk that idea. ;) Back to the final two suspects, Tom Zarek and Romo Lampkin.

It's a toss-up in my book. Both are stationed off the Galactica. Neither have easy access to the Galactica. This would explain why neither could've met with the other newly-activated Cylons. It would also explain why no one on the Galactica has heard either of them mention hearing 'strange music' in the bulkheads, etc.

Zarek's character has had the most exposure. He was a terrorist (blew up a government building) before the attack on the Colonies. He had led a revolt on the prisoner ship. He has constantly sought political power in order to take control of the fleet--so much so that he convinced Baltar to adopt the political platform of settling on New Caprica--even though it was a dumbarse idea. He's devious and cunning, but both are human and Cylon traits which doesn't necessarily prove a thing. That leaves Romo...

Romo Lampkin, that is. He's a lawyer (which amazes me that all the lawyers didn't die during the attack :p ). He's a very mysterious and unassuming character. While defending Baltar during the trial, he confided in Apollo that he had been taught the law by Apollo's grandfather. That's a convenient coincidence in my book, but I guess not impossible. If he were introduced as the final Cylon model, it would be a complete surprise out of left field. Heck, he has only been seen during the Baltar trial episodes, so why the heck is he still listed as a main character? Things that make you go hmmm...

Zarek or Lampkin. That's my guess and I'm leaning towards Lampkin. JMO.

I've been thinking Lampkin as well. But, would it be too "obvious"? If it is to be one of the listed characters, he's my bet. But, I think it will be a surprise and the final cylon will be a new character.

I have no arguement that the show is better then the 70s version overall. But as I pointed out on another thread this show went to the other extreme. The absolutley pathetic model of a military that was shown in this show would not have lasted a month. The whole PC atmosphere that surrounded it (but that is a fact of hollywood anymore so get used to it) just made it dumber. Still liked the first season when they let the action speak. Now its gotten so talky that its become a space soap opera. Just like a soap opera no one really dies for good and all sorts of totally illogical and impossible things happen.

I don't know about it being too PC...considering they use the word Frack all the time when it is obvious what that word is to them.

As far as starting to go overboard with other story lines...I agree, getting to be like a soap opera in parts.

However it is still better than the old show where we have to have a kid and robotic dog thing for comic relief. Or twiki (I think that was the name) character on the old 80's buck rogers show.
